  1. Imagine if we sign Shohei Ohtani to a 13 year deal a week from Friday?
  2. Yeah it sounds crazy for a DH but the short term commitment has to be so damn appealing that it would create a premium on the AAV.
  3. Ohtani decision could come at the end of the winter meetings next week. https://nypost.com/2023/11/29/sports/steve-cohens-cash-opens-up-both-baseball-worlds-for-david-stearns/
  4. Yeah that makes sense. He's put up 7.5 WAR the past two years but Steamer projects him for 1.6 this coming year. I suppose this past year he was propped up by uncharacteristically great defense which he's unlikely to repeat.
  5. There's a ton of interesting s*** in there. So if Orelvis and Barger aren't really 3B anymore that would explain why the Jays are interested in bringing back Chapman or signing Candelario. Makes me wonder why they didn't beat out the ham sandwich the Mariners got in return for Suarez. But perhaps the M's weren't interested in getting fleeced by Atkins again.
  6. We've moved into 2nd place on the betting markets to sign Ohtani behind the Dodgers
  7. This is who the Reds spend money on? Dumn And yeah Chad Green on two years 21 mil is looking like a steal
  8. Wagner was good. I pray they aren't doing a TV broadcast overlay for radio. It doesn't work.
  9. If it was 2016 we'd be in business.
  10. Are you trying to build a .500 team?
  11. The Yankees could be pretty good this year. But they are going to have to spend a ton to do so and that's just asking for serious trouble down the road. The Judge (32), Cole (33), Stanton (he's done), Rodon (31 and could be washed) core is signed up for 128 mil a year for each of the next 4 seasons (!!!). If they throw big bucks at Yamamoto and Bellinger they are adding another 50 mil onto that pile. With various roster filler for the remaining 20 players that they would need to fill out the roster they'll basically already be at the luxury tax entering each offseason until something like 2030. Maybe they'll just keep spending and blow the payroll out beyond the luxury tax but Steinbrenner Jr. doesn't seem to like to spend like his dad. They aren't even in on Ohtani, for example. I think they are in for some dark times ahead.
  12. Can't blame him with Montreal no longer being a franchise.
  13. Kikuchi is going to be playing the most inspired baseball of his life after we sign fellow countrymen Ohtani and Yomamatoo. Not worried about him at all.
  14. Yeah kind of but you have to be able to make the case that you are at least going to be decent. The White Sox and the Royals are long shot Central contenders at best.
  15. Yeah I was kind of buying them as darkhorse AL Central candidates last year. Obviously didn't happen but maybe they can do it this year. Mildly interesting team but the Central helps.
  16. Bachelor style copy cat with the ladies lining up to marry the billionaire baseball player.
  17. Don't fret, Dean! We got him back on a minor league deal!
  18. Mariners are ass. Too bad we couldn’t get in on Suarez but it’s hard to fleece teams multiple times in a row. They get snake bit.
  19. They are going to be so bad.
  20. These are the kind of guys you sign in February after you’ve whiffed on the big names
  21. what are the Cardinals doing?
  22. No I totally agree. Everyone is hellbent on improving the offense and getting Varsho in CF so any player that gleans some of their value from OF defense is seen as a poor fit.
