    I see some of what you are saying but this doesn't make our pitching depth better IMO. Kikuchi is a backend SP for us right now (and a pretty decent one at that?) and Francis is a depth starter. If you dump Kikuchi and then slide Francis up, how does that make the depth better? Even if you add a Junis or whoever.

    The problem with guys like that is we don't really have a spot in the current rotation for them but there are probably some s***** teams who do.

    Idk what McCutchen did to get his walk rate up that high again but if he can repeat that sign me up.

    Ah okay, I didn't realize he made that much more in the final year. I was just going off of the AAV. How would his salary be calculated for tax purposes for the team that acquires him for that final year? Would it be 14 mil (the AAV of his deal and what it is for the ChiSox)? Or would does it change for his new team to the 24.8 mil? ChiSox are cheapskates so he's definitely on the block if he's making that much and in order to move him they are going to have to eat some salary. I could see a Pearson for Moncada swap with the ChiSox eating about half of the salary.

    Yeah right now Manoah is probably the #5 and Francis and Tiedemann are in AAA as the main MLB depth. White probably the longman to start the year but I don't think we can rely on him to be an MLB SP. Would be cool to move Horwitz or someone for a backend SP with options.

    The bullpen is stacked. I could see us keeping everyone OR we could trade one. We could trade Swanson and Green could take his role, for example. And that would allow us to dumpster dive for one of the final spots in the pen. Or maybe throw Pearson and some other stuff together in a package for Moncada. Either way, it's a good move to bring back Green and like Mike said, it's a good sign that we've got some money to throw around this offseason.

    Agree on Springer. His xwOBA was better than his wOBA and he was hitting the ball hard the first half of the year but he was getting really unlucky. Then he actually started slumping so his numbers just never really got to the point where you would expect. I think he'll rebound.

    It's a tough call but I'd lean toward the 2 year option. Though the team will have far more info on his health and also the state of his stuff post-TJ. I wonder if there is wiggle room to sweeten the pot on the 1 year player option though. Maybe tack on another player option with a 1-2 million dollar buyout.

    Even the ones I thought I would be a little hesitant on aren't that bad. Pitch clock- awesome and don't even notice it Bigger bases- Don't even notice it but steals are up which is good Universal DH- Pitchers became so atrociously bad at hitting that this had to be done The 2 pickoff attempts rule- At the end of the day what does it matter? Steal the bag or not. Why drag it out? So boring watching pitchers throw half ass tosses to first over and over. 3 batter minimum- This might actually increase strategy, you've really got to plan out your relievers and pinch hitters Ghost Runner- it's stupid but no one needs an 18 inning game

    Completely agree on all counts. Last offseason the Padres gave some guy 5 years and 45 mil or something and I can't even remember his name. Chad Green was one of the top relievers in baseball for the past 4-5 years prior to the injury. So 2 years 21 mil for Chad Green might be a steal. Could allow us the option to then go ahead and trade someone too. Maybe a guy like Romano fetches us something pretty decent?

    The Chad Green options are interesting. The At The Letters guys thought he would take the player option but I don't see it. I can see the case for both team options, particularly the 2 year on, but I can also see letting him walk. I wonder if there is a way we could sweeten the player option and get him to take it. Maybe tack on another player option year on top of it with a small buyout.

    Hmm yeah that's a good call. Just scrolling through things quickly and it's a bunch of guys who are around 30 WAR and 30 and over. Would take a tremendous end to their careers for one of them to get in. Most of the guys under 30 wiith a few years under their belt don't even seem close. And then there's the guys like Spencer Strider, who might be one of the better guesses, but he's so far away as a pitcher that it's not even worth thinking about right now.

    Sure let's do it, it's not my money I'd want to see the medicals on these guys though. Tatis seems like he could be a disaster waiting to happen and Machado doesn't seem to be the healthiest these days either.

    He’s a physical freak who put up 1.7 WAR as a 21 year old. His stock is trending up not down.

    Aside from the rules changes, Ohtani was definitely the biggest story until he got hurt. That didn’t help. But I think the season was fine. Acuna and the Braves, Elly De La Cruz, the amazing Diamondbacks lineup electrified crowds all year, etc. I’m going to count the WBC actually being good this year too.

    I expect FULL and sincere apologies from all the D-Bags stans of the board. Last night was an affront to the game of baseball. The D-Bags, a team with a negative run differential and the worst uniforms in professional sports, are so terrible that they actually don't even have a #4 starting pitcher. So in the hallowed World Series they started journeyman reliever JOE MANTIPLY and then followed him with a collection of shitbag relievers who gave up 10 runs in the first 3 innings. What a joke. So to answer OP's question, YES the World Series does have a credibility problem and last night proves it.

    Yeah this version of the Rangers is fine. Love Semien and Seager and Bruce Bochy is pretty cool too. Plus, Jeff Bannister who was worse than everyone but Odor and Sam Dyson on those garbage Rangers teams is the bench coach for Arizona so f*** 'em. Go Rangers.
