  1. Arb settlement numbers coming in for several Jays and they are all about a couple hundred thousand higher than MLBTradeRumors' estimates
  2. He may in fact suck now but he's only had one bad year and 2.5 mil is nothing. At a minimum someone would trade a lottery ticket prospect for him.
  3. Seems like a real concern from everything I've read but it does seem like it's an acceptable risk for the contract terms he got.
  4. Well the Dodgers are making a bet on him so yeah you are probably right. But none of this is meant to be a knock on Teoscar. The fact that it's even somewhat of a discussion highlights how good of value KK provides on modest one year contracts like this.
  5. I thought Steamer incorporates 5 years and Zips does 4.
  6. On top of it, I don't think people realize how good KK was last year nor how bad Teoscar was. KK's fWAR was low because they incorporate UZR a lot and KK's UZR numbers were modest while DRS and OAA rated him as elite. That's why he got nearly 4 bWAR last year. Teoscar was helped in that he played 160 games last year so he was an accumulator and also because he had a career year defensively at age 31. Maybe he really did play better defense last year or maybe it was just noise. Either way, I wouldn't expect him to be average or better in the field moving forward. So if he played his typical 130-140 games to go along with his typical defensive numbers he would have been damn near replacement level.
  7. No I'm not, I also used the projections which incorporate their career numbers.
  8. This Teo signing kind of highlights why the KK signing was smart, even though he doesn't appear to be the best fit on paper. KK out WAR'd Teo last year by a good amount and is projected to do so again on a per game basis in 2024. Yet Teo got 1 year and 23.5M (with deferrals) and KK got 1 year and 10.5M.
  9. That's not what the article said. Kind of says the opposite tbh. "The Kiermaier thing, fine. The Blue Jays need a center fielder....He’ll start in center about 100 times, which is better than watching Daulton Varsho start in center 130 times, or worse yet watching Daulton Varsho hit while starting in center 130 times."
  10. https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article/87585/transaction-analysis-plesac-sign-better-players-kiner-falefa-martin-perez-kiermaier/ Spanky can you paste the relevant Jays stuff from that? Thanks
  11. The site is working and seems a lot faster.
  12. Ben Clemens was spot on with Lourdes and Garver. And he has Teo, Soler and Hoskins all ranked right next to each other and getting 3 year 45 million dollar deals. Clemens also had Pederson getting 1 year and 12 mil and Turner getting 1 year and 10 mil. I'm not sure the Teo deal blows up the rest of his predictions just yet. Seems like the Dodgers are a unique situation where a guy like Teo would be willing to sign a 1 year deal. But regardless, one of Soler, Hoskins and Pederson are going to get less than what everyone thinks and I'd be fine with any of the three. They all project similarly so I'd probably prefer whoever is cheapest. Turner I would be less thrilled with but he could make sense if he can chip in at 3B for 40+ games but I'm not sure that he can anymore.
  13. Correct. It's an orangutan which are apes and not monkeys. It's actually a popular meme among older millennials, the folks on 4chan love it. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/dying-orangutan I only have it because it's how I felt after missing out on Ohtani. I'll get around to changing it soon.
  14. I hear ya, I try keeping it to a minimum these days but once in a while I can't help myself
  15. I made ju1ced a 7 figure offer and he turned me down. I told him I'd quit posting here and he immediately changed his tune (apparently my posts drive over 95% of the traffic here) and he now pays me a sizable portion of the proceeds. I'll reach out to him again and see if anything has changed. He doesn't let me see the financials but those monthly checks I'm getting are pretty darn fat so I know it's going to take a mammoth offer.
  16. It should definitely swing back the other way some with the fairly significant reduction of foul territory but idk by how much.
  17. No prob you probably just got him confused with Conforto. They are the same damn player only one bats left.
  18. Well Haniger is a righty but yeah they need bats and while the Giants do too they already have plenty of Haniger types.
  19. I just don't see the need to add Teo on a 3 or 4 year deal when he's not even that much of an improvement over KK. In fact, Steamer thinks he's worse on a per game basis and that tracks because KK was better than Teo was last year too. And that goes for most of the LF/DH types out there. So I'd rather see a smaller signing like Duvall or Grichuk who could platoon with KK. I do like the idea of bringing in a DH with some thump though. So maybe Teo fits there but we could also go with Joc, Soler, Hoskins, JDM, etc.
  20. Ray isn't expected back until after the All-Star break. He wasn't very good in 2022 and then had a lost season in 23. Descalfani is probably worth about 1 year 12 mil so I don't think he's a problem for them. They can just start him at the #5 and keep Woo and Hancock in AAA for depth, can limit their innings, and play with their service time. Haniger sucks and so does his contract but it's a lot better than Ray's and they are so desperate for bats that he helps them too. I have no idea what the Giants are thinking. Seems like they think Ray can bounce back and since they have a hole burning in their pocket they might as well try it?
  21. They'll probably start them both with Marlowe working in as well (I think he sucks though).
  22. Looks like they might have another deal in the works?
  23. Hmm I thought this was an easy W for the Mariners. Ray's contract is terrible. DeScalfani only has 1 year left and Haniger has two. Ray has 3 years and over 70 mil left.
