  1. How do you fellas feel about Oneil Cruz these days. I've been holding on to him forever in a 14 team dynasty. But I'm flush at SS with both Bo and Mookie Betts in the fold. Seems like in a 14 teamer he's probably not going to be as good as I was hoping. I could trade him for SP which I need though it's a pitching heavy league so the return is going to be some sort of Top 40 SP. I'm kind of inclined to just hang on to him and see if he explodes. Or is now the time to sell? EDIT: I was just offered Freddy Peralta for him.
  2. Wow you couldn't fit anymore platitudes into this post if you tried. Reads like a Derek Jeter post-game interview.
  3. Giving hope to his fellow 40 FV's all across the globe that they can also crack the Top 100 list someday so long as they put up a 6.5 xFIP in AAA just prior to their 10 year high school reunion.
  4. Hader doesn't do the whole fireman thing
  5. Fair enough but these KBO guys are interesting. They barely see velocity so for him to show improvement year after year makes me think he hasn’t even hit his peak yet. I didn’t realize his batted ball profile sucked so bad though so thanks for that. It’s all a stupid Morosi hypo anyway. Maybe we can trade Manoah for something else or maybe he bounces back.
  6. No kidding, I liked Stephenson as sort of a late bloomer slightly under the radar type for 2 years 15 mil or something but 33 mil is insane. Chad Green looking like a bargain.
  7. No I've been pretty neutral on Manoah all offseason so I'm definitely open to the arguments for keeping him. I am pretty damn concerned about Manoah though and I don't trust pitchers bouncing back like I would if he were a hitter. I also think Kim is criminally underrated around these parts. Cheers.
  8. What statement in that post was ridiculous?
  9. FYI all the people who want to keep Manoah have perfectly reasonable takes IMO. I totally get the arguments for keeping him. It's a sell-low situation which is almost never good (though his trade value could still bottom out just yet). We need pitching depth. He's got 4 years of control left. He's obviously a volatile asset so throw the projections out. How good will the return even be? Etc. That all makes sense to me. As others have said, the Jays probably have more inside info on his situation and if he can be fixed too. Tough call to make as a fan because we are flying blind with his weird situation.
  10. Everyone acting like Kim is no big deal. If we traded for him he might be our best player. Would certainly be in the Top 3. Manoah might be our worst player.
  11. Yeah I read that any team that signs him would basically have to stipulate on using him that way.
  12. Yeah a lot can happen with relievers in 5 years. Astros really needed the bullpen help and they can afford it but this would make me nervous.
  13. We need the Giants to sign Matt Chapman then we can trade Espinal and some change for JD Davis. His defense is wild because DRS hates him, UZR thinks he's average and OAA thinks he's really good. But his salary isn't going to be that bad (6.5 or 6.9 in arb) so he could play 3B, IKF can be UT and we'd still have enough money to sign one of the good DHs.
  14. Yeah that all makes sense but I didn't post the projections. I was replying to the guy who was using the projections to say that he can't fathom how anyone would want to trade the 0.8 WAR projected guy for a 3+ WAR guy is the one who posted them.
  15. It's possible but Berrios and Kikuchi seemed like different scenarios. Berrios wasn't THIS bad and Kikuchi was just wild and needed to correct that. Manoah lost velo, his stuff all flattened out and he was wild on top of it. They seem to be blaming a shoulder injury? Not sure if that makes it better or worse.
  16. You are only taxed on the overages so if they are barely over the tax threshold it barely matters. 20, 30, and 50 percent taxes on being 5 mil over isn't that big of a deal. I agree that they are unlikely to ever eclipse the next threshold.
  17. The bolded part is why. If Manoah is cooked like the projections suggest we'd all be laughing our asses off that the idiot Padres gave us a 3 WAR player.
  18. Seems like he could throw that 4 seamer above the zone and get some whiffs that way.
  19. Morosi was typing up garbage about how Manoah could be a fit for the Padres and we ran wild with it.
  20. Jonn is right on this one and the Manoah fanboys are wrong.
  21. Well Kim has been steadily improving as he adjusts to MLB and that lead to a 4.4 WAR age 27 season. Manoah did the opposite as ballooned to over 320 pounds and put up a negative WAR season. In theory, it's risky trading 4 years of Manoah but in reality the guy who was a frontline starter is probably gone. And I don't hate him like some, I think he can be serviceable moving forward but there is a chance that he's cooked. So there's risk to trading him and there is risk to not trading him while he still has value. Plus, one year of Kim is nothing to sneeze at on its own. But he seems like the kind of 2nd tier player that Atkins could lock up to a Berrios or Springer like contract and that would allow us some flexibility with Bo who we could deal or let walk in FA.
  22. Glad to see the Rogers sisters getting the boot. With the boys fully in charge this can only mean good things for the baseball team. GO JAYS https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-01-17/rogers-scions-to-leave-board-in-settlement-of-family-squabble?leadSource=reddit_wall
  23. Yeah and Francis and White will also play a factor.
