  1. What's also interesting is that Clement is playing SS over IKF and not only that but he's batting 6th and IKF is batting 8th. If he gets the nod when the harder defensive position is available to play, and he also bats higher when they are both in the lineup, then isn't that perhaps an admission that they think Clement is the better player? So why play IKF over Clement when Bo is available?
  2. I’d like to see Babe Schneider play in this park. That short porch in LF is made for him.
  3. Look Dean, you come on a message board and name yourself DeanMike you are getting called Dean. Do you prefer Mike? I could call you Mr. Mike if you prefer but tbh it seems like Dean has stuck at this point.
  4. Who is the backup CFer in that scenario?
  5. Congrats on Rhys Hoskins logging a couple of games at 1B Dean Good job buddy
  6. Francis better bring his A game tomorrow the Astros are going to be pissed after getting swept by the Yankees
  7. At this point it should be a last resort or mid game if it calls for it. If we get some injuries then perhaps it would make more sense.
  8. He seems to be capable of making adjustments year to year so he might have more juice left
  9. Yeah that's fair. The nice thing about KK though is that he also serves as the backup CFer which allows us to carry all these infielders on the roster (including Schneider who hit a homer while manning LF today). If we signed someone like Teo or Pham, then we'd also need a backup CFer unless we planned on using Springer there. Having all this versatility is going to pay off over the course of the season, including today. It also allows the team to cast a wider net. If Clement balls out, IKF can be a UT bench player. If Schneider turns into a legit LF power threat, KK can be a traditional 4th OF. Then there is all the shuffling that will happen when injuries occur.
  10. Turner is outproducing all of them so far so maybe they tried and succeeded? Time will tell but the early returns on the offseason are very promising. The only valid black mark to this point is that Ernie Clement is so damn good that he makes IKF's paltry 7.5M a year look like a waste.
  11. This team is just clicking on all cylinders
  12. A 2-2 split at the Trop is a 3-1 start against anyone else This team is legit
  13. lol and right on cue IKF with a web gem to end the game God he looks good
  14. No it was much worse Basically Spanky and I were the voice of reason meanwhile nearly everyone else was losing their minds, the usual dipshits and the board regulars alike Meanwhile: Justin Turning Back the Clock Kinder Falafel is batting .333 on the season with a .400 OBP but people are still complaining because he’s not as good as Ernie Clement We are on the verge of a split at the Trop (with a positive run differential) I could go on but the team looks incredible
  15. Are you watching the game
  16. 3 scoreless innings for Mitch White Cannot believe the Dodgers gave us this guy for a broken nearly 30 year old relief “prospect” lmao
  17. interesting that Clement gets SS over IKF
  18. A lot of weird lineup choices This is going to sound like a joke but if they wanted to play Biggio they should have just batted him leadoff so he at least gets the splits advantage the first time around Now when he gets his first AB it’s probably against a lefty
  19. Yeah but the offense was good last year. Finished tied for 7th in wRC+ and that was with several key guys having down years. People just think it was bad because we had some luck/clutch issues that are unlikely to repeat (and in fact improved toward the end of the year) and people weren’t baking in the new park factors into their perceptions of what the offense should be. If Vlad, Kirk, Varsho and Springer rebound like they are projected to the offense should be pretty good.
  20. He’s had a wild career Feels like I’m constantly chasing him or running away from him each year in fantasy
  21. Ok well now I’m convinced this is a troll job and that after we win today you’ll be singing Big Ross’ praises
  22. He’s coming around after 2 bad games lol And sure, it’s definitely possible I’ll be joining him. I’ve said it’s a make or break year for Ross. But it’s going to take more than 2 bad games. Whatever one’s preseason thoughts were should be holding at this point.
  23. He seems comparable to our competition’s cleanup hitters yesterday Orioles had Mountcastle batting 4th Yankees had Rizzo at cleanup Rays had Paredes at cleanup Vogelbach with a career 125 wRC+ against RHP
