  1. Tweets from the Perfect Game National Showcase:
  2. You know what, we should offer Bickford 2.5mm and say take it or leave it. Not only is next years draft deep, but it's loaded with power arms. Baseball America:
  3. Baseball America on some of the July 2 outfielders.
  4. Latest BA article on July 2 free agency.
  5. Old article about trading for Bonus Pool space. http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/targeting-likely-international-trade-partners/
  6. We'd need to rebuild some of his value first I would think. I can see Seattle being interested in him even with Seager already at 3rd. You know how they love those BC boys for marketing purposes (Saunders, O'Neill, Gillies before they traded him).
  7. I'd hate to give up Jannsen, but I imagine he would have pretty good value to a contender (he's consistent, good, cheap, etc). Plus we have some potential bullpen arms to replace him in Delabar, John Stilson and potentially Marcus Stroman someday. I guess it depends on what we get back. Detroit doesn't really have anything I want other than Castellanos and Garcia.
  8. Yeah, I'd rather just take the pick in next years deep draft.
  9. I looked around and couldn't find a trade thread so I figured I'd create one. We can consolidate any speculation or rumors here to avoid clutter. A couple of Blue Jays related tidbits from today's Baseball Prospectus chat.
  10. Patrick Ebert ‏@PGPatrickEbert 1h Not surprisingly No. 1 2014 prosp. Alex Jackson putting on show during BP - lightning quick hands/bat speed, loft power, lasers #PGNational
  11. We're going to have to save at least 600k-700k more to have a legit shot at any of Brentz, Lauer, Tewes, or Tellez.
  12. I know it would never happen but if we blew it up: Bautista and Johnson for Jurickson Profar (SS) and Rougned Odor (2B), then Jose Reyes to St. Louis for Oscar Tavares. We'd lop around 35mm-40mm off the payroll too.
  13. Come on AJ, you're our last hope of getting rid of JP. Also the Canadian "Alex Rios" Michael Crouse is quietly having a solid start to the year for Dunedin while repeating high A. He's 22 years old. 84ab .286/.355/.464 1hr 9rbi 10(2b) 1(3b) 9bb 25so 2sb 2cs
  14. Do it. I like Bautista but this frees up 14mm and gives us a big bat to plug in at second base for the next 6 years, and at short whenever Reyes is injured. Sign Choo in the off season to play right field. Reyes Profar Choo Encarnacion Cabrera Lind Lawrie Rasmus Arencibia
  15. Nice. Too bad we only saved 90k but hopefully we can stinge couple other guys so we can get one of Brentz or Tellez to sign.
  16. Baseball America debating Luis Encarnacion vs. Raphael Devers
  17. Sounds like he might be signable for the right number. He must think the number is realistic within our bonus pool allotment or what's the point talking about it. Please get him signed AA. He's a really underrated hitter, and we don't have lefty power like his in our system.
  18. Actually he's dropped down a lot of rankings since his age revelation and subsequent suspension. Minorleagueball now has him outside their top 30. That's why I think we could get him for cheap. He won't be able to start playing pro ball until he's 20 because of the suspension, and he's already pretty raw at the plate. Jason Parks from Baseball Prospectus says he won't likely get more than 500k.
  19. I don't know why we don't hear more about him. I guess cause he's not as toolsy as guys like Eloy Jimenez or Micker Zapata, but I think he's going to be better than Zapata who I don't like at all.
  20. I tried to find the clip I was talking about, but I think it got taken down. It was basically Jackson taking BP. Every time he hit the ball it sounded like a gun shot off the bat. Then he had one monster hit during a game at bat.
  21. Jackson is a crazy good player. Plus-plus arm solid speed but it's the bat and the power that will make AA drool. Watch some clips of him. I swear he will literally tear the cover off the baseball like Robert Redford in the Natural someday with how hard he hits it. Jacob Gatewood is very similar as well, minus the running speed, but with an arguably better arm. Gareth Morgan is not presently in a lot of top 20s but that could change with a good Perfect Game Classic or Under Armour game this summer or a good spring next year. Right now scouts see a lot of swing and miss in his game, and holes in his swing. Better for us anyway, if he keeps falling to our second pick.
  22. For reference in case Bickford pulls a Beede on us. Here's the top 20 for the 2014 draft. http://mlb.mlb.com//news/article.jsp?ymd=20130611&content_id=50293726&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
  23. It's off the charts. Like Ian Kennedy level. lol
