  1. For everyone involved, just make your picks from this point on and forget the write-up. Continue to make the picks sensible and consistent with what those teams might actually do though.
  2. KingKat up with the next 2 picks. We have 2 days to go boys!
  3. With the 30th pick in the First Round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas Rangers select Derek Hill, an outfielder from Elk Grove HS, California http://332b71db85586c638269-7b3e649a230e2ba2cff912d8af17e0b5.r41.cf1.rackcdn.com/474404.jpg "Derek fits our organizational philosophy of targeting top level athletes at premium positions. A five tool talent in centerfield, he already brings game changing defense to the table as an amateur player, with plus speed, arm strength, and instincts. Our scouts compare his defense favorably to some of the best centerfielders in the game the Torii Hunters and Adam Jones, his defense is that good. His bat isn't as far along as his glove, but it definitely projects going forward. He has the bat speed and leverage to hit for above average power down the line, and his speed should play well on the base paths as well. Depending on how the bat and power develop he could potentially hit in the 1 through 3 spots in a major league lineup, with gold glove caliber defense in center."
  4. With the 29th pick in the First Round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the Cincinnati Reds select Michael Kopech, a right handed pitcher from Mt. Pleasant HS, Texas . http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/michaelkopech.jpg "Michael is a premium level talent who has been steadily rising up the boards this spring as his stuff has improved. A tall, highly projectable right hander with an ideal pitcher's frame, our scouts were blown away with how much he's improved since they saw him last summer. He's gone from a guy who threw in the low 90s and could scrape 95 on occasion, to throwing in the mid to upper 90s throughout an entire start. The increased velocity and arm speed, has made his sweeping breaking ball firmer and given it tighter spin, while he shows flashes of a changeup which could be above average as well. We feel that Michael will be looked on as one of those players, much like Hunter Harvey in last year's draft, that should have been drafted much higher than he actually was. The sky's the limit on his potential."

  7. No. I would even take Zimmer over Conforto.
  8. GD make my picks pls!
  9. If Freeland and Hoffman are on the board at our picks and we take anything but both of them I would rage. lol Also, Blewett has had a pretty bad spring and I would probably have taken McKinney, Flaherty, DeCarr, and maybe Verdugo over him anyway.
  10. The Birdies take Burdi. Northof49 up with the bases drunk.
  11. BA says he has the potential to be an elite defender at third, like a Beltre. I compare him to Blalock for the lefty bat and good glove.
  12. OP updated. Hurl up to bat with the last pick in the 1st, non-compensatory round.
  13. Crawford too. I can't blame them on that one though. I underrated Crawford's bat big time.
  14. Nice start for the Lizard. Do we know if he's still switch-hitting or if he's only hitting from the left side now? His righty swing is supposed to be not that great, but obviously he's young.
  15. Okay, someone PM theHurl to pick for the Cards.
  16. With the 26th pick in the First Round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the Boston Red Sox select Derek Fisher, an outfielder from Virginia http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/media/site139/2014/0312/20140312_053835_X197_518A_9_400.jpg "We considered a number of different options at this pick but in the end we couldn't pass up a guy like Derek with his athleticism, power, and ability to hit. He checked off a lot of boxes for us, when it came down to it. Derek reminds our scouts of a young Jay Bruce with his strong and fluid left handed swing. He has slightly less arm than Bruce, but we liked the overall profile, and see him moving quickly through our system. We think he's a guy that's going to blossom under our development system, and become an even better pro than he was a college player."
  17. With the 25th pick in the First Round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the Oakland Athletics select Ti'quan Forbes, a shortstop from Columbia HS, Mississippi. http://www.studentsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Shortstop-Tiquan-Forbes-approaches-the-plate.jpg "Ti'quan is one of the youngest players eligible for this years draft, and we because of this, we feel he has more upside than most high school players. Not only is he playing against players who are almost a full year older than him, but he has performed at a high level in both high school and in many of the showcase tournaments. Ti'quan is tremendous all around talent. Our scouts think if any player can stay at shortstop at his size it will be Ti'quan. He's big and rangy and shows tremendous fluidity in his actions on the infield. While his arm strength is only average to slightly below at this point, it should improve immensely once he fills out a little bit. We believe if Ti'Quan eventually has to move off of shortstop he is athletic enough to shift to centerfield, where his speed would be a great asset. If he has to move to third base, we think his bat and raw power project enough to profile there. Wherever he ends up playing, he is an impact type of player if he can fulfill his potential.
  18. Oh crap, I'm the next two picks. The horror, the horror!
  19. I don't think so. It would be big news if he was though.
  20. GD you want to make the pick for Fatcow? Or do you want me to do it?
  21. If Freeland's not an option my hope is probably Holmes if it's a pitcher. Not the most pictureques physique and doesn't have much if any projection, but pure power stuff with his fastball 92-94 (supposedly up to 98), hard breaking slider, and he's got pretty good command for a high school kid.
  22. I'm not that high on Toussaint. The ceiling is enormous but the delivery and lack of command scare me. Given the amount of pitching available in this draft with comparable stuff and much better command I would want someone else to take the risk on Touki.
