  1. I appreciate the appreciation but King and Twisted deserve all the credit. I haven't really done much.
  2. Ok, I found the page in the old thread: http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/1231-2014-MLB-Draft-An-Early-Look?p=224586&highlight=irvin#post224586 Some notable links: http://sbb.scout.com/2/1344047.html http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=9250 http://throughthefencebaseball.com/sneak-peak-2015-mlb-draft-10-college-arms-watch/42607
  3. Todd Isaacs (2014 OF, Toronto Blue Jays Scout Team) - Isaacs stood out on an all-prospect team that was highlighted by one of the highest ceiling players in the class (Jacob Gatewood). He slashed line drives and hard ground balls evenly between the pullside, opposite field and up the middle. His impressive spray chart from his .500/.533/.500 showing is impressive in it's even distribution, even putting down perfect bunts for hits down each baseline. His carrying tool is his speed and as a present burner he should be able to chew up acres of real estate centerfield. His slash and run skillset is a good fit for his center field profile and his solid arm strength is an added bonus there.
  4. I posted something a few months back in the other thread. I'll dig it up after the draft concludes.
  5. Anyone have ESPN Insider or a Baseball Prospectus subscription? http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-office/post?id=9569 http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=23814 http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=23817
  6. Great job to King and Twisted for keeping us all up to date. Yoeman's work you guys put in.
  7. Niese for Rasmus might be good. We know Alderson and JP love Rasmus, and they need outfield help. We'd probably have to throw something in though as Niese is controllable for longer and Rasmus is an upcoming free agent.
  8. AA said he'd prefer a 1 year rental so the list might be something like: Of those names I probably prefer Shields, Masterson, De la Rosa, Floyd, Hammel in that order, though Josh Beckett is somewhat tempting at 7-3 with a 3.07era and a 0.94whip in his playoff career.
  9. I might actually prefer Franklin in that scenario. Also the Bucs have Walker at 2b already.
  10. How would you guys feel about trading Rasmus for prospects and flipping those prospects for a pitcher? Money out, money in.
  11. As long as we don't part with Stroman, Hutchison, Norris, and Pompey I'm happy. They can have Sanchez and whoever else they want.
  12. Okay so I have speculated we have around 1.3M to spread around or spend based on the punted picks and the 5% overage. We also get a free 100k on every pick outside the top 10 so in reality it would be closer to 1.4M. Now where else can we get savings on our picks. I think we can get Pentecost at around 2.5-2.6 and save 200k. Last year's 11th pick Dominic Smith had more leverage than Pentecost and he went 200k below slot at 2.6M as well. I think we can probably save 61k on Wells. Ironically he was drafted in the same slot as last year's pick Patrick Murphy who signed for 500k (150k below slot). Murphy was injured obviously, while Wells is healthy, but that's why we'd only be asking him to sign for 61k less. I would try to get Morgan at 400k flat and save 58k. I couldn't really find a previous year comp for him, since the guy taken in his slot the year before was a catcher, but a college catcher. After that it will depend on how much if any we can save on Hoffman. Maybe get him for 2.8M? Based on these crude non-realistic calculations (in a dream scenario basically) we could save as much as 1.8M to spend on those post round 10 picks, which have a free 100k attached to each.
  13. Me too. I'm really happy about every pick. Now I'm interested to see how much more money we can save with our other picks so we can get as many of these guys signed as possible.
  14. I think more likely most of the guys go to school outside of the top few. If those guys don't take the money though, the Jays can throw it at the other tough signs they took as insurance.
  15. Yeah. Don't forget Pillar was supposed to be org filler at one point.
  16. Sorry I'm late guys, I had relatives visiting. lol So stoked about this pick. After Castellani this was the guy I really wanted after the first 3 rounds. Also in case it wasn't posted yet. BA:
  17. So looking at our total bonus pool and our individual slot allotments I tried to figure out how much money we could potentially have to spend on any fallers on day 3. So let's say our punted picks amount to a bonus of around $50,000 total or less (likely less). That would leave us with roughly $847,800 saved just from those picks. Now our bonus pool amounts to $9,458,500, but we are allowed to go over by 5% while only having to pay a tax. That 5% calculates to $472,925 more we can spend. So if you add that to our savings from the punted picks we have about $1,320,725 to spend on one guy who falls or to spread between two players. Last year Brentz and Tellez signed for 1.55M total. This isn't even taking into consideration any possible savings we could get at our other picks.
  18. That's not consistent with every other baseball database. Also you said 6'6" not 6'5" so you're wrong anyway hermano. http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/teams/players/bio/?id=3229 http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=425856#gameType='R'&sectionType=career&statType=2&season=2014&level='ALL' https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7297/
  19. Gavin Floyd isn't 6'6. lol GF - 6'4" http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/f/floydga01.shtml SRF - 6'3" http://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=339546
  20. I'll post what I find in tomorrow's thread. Feeling kind of lazy right now.
  21. You're right, he's more of a solid athlete like a Brett Lawrie than an elite level athlete like a Mike Trout. I think we can all agree that Brett's pretty athletic though, even if he's not elite.
  22. Does anyone else see a little Brett Lawrie with him?
