  1. From the PG Nation Showcase via BP: Could be a good late round pick and sign who we throw a lot of money at like Tellez and Brentz.
  2. Couldn't find anything on Peters on either my BA or PG scouting notes, which mostly has the top 100 guys. I did find a few things online though. He's kind of like a right handed Rowdy Tellez at the plate.
  3. With the 11th pick in the 2014 MLB draft the Toronto Blue Jays select Jeff Hoffman a right handed pitcher from East Carolina University. http://www.nationalsarmrace.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/HoffmanJeff-ECU2014-via-ecu-media-relations.jpg "As an organization we feel this was not only a risk that we could afford to take, but one that we had to. We simply could not pass up the opportunity to acquire a player who, when healthy, likely would have been taken among the first 5 picks. To be able to get a player with Jeff's upside with the eleventh pick is very rare. We feel he has the ability to be a top of the rotation starter at the next level, with the potential for three above average to plus pitchers in his 94-95 mph fastball, 12-6 curve, and fading changeup. Certainly there is risk involved in drafting an injured player, but given the advances in modern medicine and the ever growing recovery rate from the ligament replacement surgery that Jeff will undergo, we are confident he will be able to return his previous form, and much like Nationals prospect Lucas Giolito, who was similarly drafted despite requiring the same surgery, and give us an elite level prospect we would not have had if we were more risk averse."
  4. Also, anyone who wants the scouting reports from BA just PM me your email. I got you covered already Spanks.
  5. Scouting report.
  6. I'll check my files but I know who you're talking about. I really like him. He reminds me of Phil Ervin. I think one of the criticisms of him is that he doesn't profile well in centerfield despite his speed, and that he's not a prototypical corner outfielder despite his power. The critiques don't really make sense to me. lol
  7. I'll be making the Blue Jays' next pick later today. Right now I'm thinking either Jeff Hoffman / Grant Holmes / Sean Newcomb unless anyone has any other suggestions. Let me know who you guy want. I will take that into consideration.
  8. I'm glad to hear Grant's ok and just busy. I was a little concerned at first (you never know if something's happened to someone when they've been gone for a while like Kirksaw for example). I hope Grant doesn't mind if I make the next 2 picks for now, just to get this thing moving along. He still has full control of the teams moving forward but this way we can get going. Spanky can you let him know I'll just make the next two picks so he doesn't waste time doing them. He will be on the clock again for the next Brewers, Blue Jays, Pirates picks.
  9. I think PG has him rated in the top 20.
  10. The Canadian Justin Upton? Eligible for the 2015 draft.
  11. Yeah the curve has lots of snap to it. He's pretty advanced and polished, I think his command was just off that day. His command was great at the December showcase. Projects to have 3 pitches that are above average or better, and looks more projectable than reports suggest. Right now word is the White Sox went to see him, but they're not officially connected to him yet.
  12. Yeah, I'll PM them to you.
  13. It's kind of depressing to hear that the Yankees have already reached verbal agreements with close to a quarter of the top 30 prospects (Dermis Garcia, Miguel Flames, Chris Torres, Juan De Leon, Jonathan Amundaray, Nelson Gomez, Diego Castillo) and they're being connected to even more names that are not locked yet. Anyway, some video of Juan Meza the pitcher we've been connected to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gv1ZyaR8X4U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaXgrAiL7jE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI3m5drQtO8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27K2i_vpDJE I really hope we can get into the bidding for Ynoa as well. This guy looks legit.
  14. The top July 2nd pitchers from BA.
  15. Through the Fence's Mock Draft while we're waiting. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-mock-draft-8-0-top-45-picks/42874
  16. Hey, Spanky could you let Grant know he's up with the next 2 picks in case he hasn't been by the thread yet.
  17. Take Hoffman Grant or we'll rage. j/k
  18. It's a bit of a reach, but he's a really good player. I wanted him for the Jays early last year until our pick moved into the top 10. He could have a 60 hit tool and 60 power.
  19. Old article from the Cape Cod League that's wasn't been posted before, but contains some of the prospects of interest.
  20. I don't want to either, but if we're going strictly BPA at the spot, it's likely to be a pitcher. I wouldn't mind Gordon, Zimmer, or Jackson though. I don't have a good feel for our new scouting director yet, but remember he took almost all pitchers last year.
  21. Yeah, he's really impressive. IMO, best changeup in the entire draft (with all due respect to Aaron Nola). That changeup is a thing of beauty.
  22. I think Keith needs a better fact-checker. I'm pretty sure this was proven false months ago. lol
  23. Really like this kid. Right now for me at 9/11 I want some combination for Hoffman, Freeland, Holmes, Gordon, or maybe Toussaint.
  24. Thanks King! I'll post what I have from BA and PG later.
  25. Jeez, they're dropping like flies. Scratch another name off the list.
