  1. We got this. He looks like Trudeau's Asian twin. I can imagine them being kindred spirits.
  2. I don't like the narrative I hear from some people: He dumped the Wells contract....the Angels were idiots. He acquired Donaldson....Beane drunk texted him. Come on, give the man credit for hustling. He completed those deals and took advantage of some brain farts as much as those teams' GMs had brain farts.
  3. I am a fan of this current FO, more than AA. And I am optimistic that this team will perform well under this regime's control with a robust payroll and directive to win from ownership. I don't dislike AA, I think he did more good than bad, but was imperfect. I wish him no ill will. AA was far better than JPR (with the one glaring exception being roster management) and Ash.
  4. I don't consider Bautista a loss at all. A lesser man would have caved to pressure at a much less opportune time, the outcome could have been MUCH worse. He walks and is still a superstar and a million casuals trash the FO forever and ever. Or he gets a real multi-year deal and does what he did in 2017. That worked out about as well as the Jays could have hoped, the franchise saved face and still had a chance to luck out on some upside if there was any. That Pearce call as a loss is questionable as well. I'm guessing you're trying to fill out the bad move column just to be fair in your retort. Could have used Howell I guess.
  5. Too bad he doesn't have an interest in politics. We could use a man like him in OT.
  6. So he's like Trump? Or Jimcanuck?
  7. Have you seen The Good Doctor? Or Ben Carson according to libtards, apparently? (I think Carson is great)
  8. Ok. Wait. I don't follow. To someone who is not up to speed on the 14 year long grudges carried over from the MLB sanctioned board, this: Looks like a perfectly reasonable sarcastic response to this, which in itself appears to be a troll job: Are you saying that this was not the case and he is being serious?
  9. I disagree with you, but the last time I did that I received back a 500 word paragraph like you're some kind of lunatic off his meds and I noticed you have a tendency to do that more often when you find yourself in a disagreement. So I'm just going to leave it be.
  10. It is what it is. I'm not that perturbed about it as others seem to be. Halladay's biggest single game highlights came in a Phillies uniform. The Jays were completely forgettable while he was here. Joe Carter is shown in a Cleveland uniform exactly zero times even though his best years came there so I don't take this as anti-Canadian sentiment. Have you paid attention to half of the country? They all wish they were Canadians right now.
  11. Stupid f***ing big mouth shock jock wannabe. He gets paid well to mouth off his worthless opinion on sports (a pretty damn good job that most of us wouldn't mind having) and he has to abuse that privilege. The best way to go about this is to give him no attention at all. Probably just wants more Twitter follows. I've expressed my feelings on Halladay's actions which aren't exactly opposed to this guy's sentiment but you don't have to be a classless jackass about it. "Roy made a lapse in judgement and hopefully this tragedy reminds people to be more careful with these types of small aircraft. Build your hours first before becoming a stunt pilot." is all the needs to be said by these media types that want to promote a life lesson here.
  12. I have used that exact terminology, either here or somewhere. I dunno, I wouldn't consider that to be self-centered and I think it's actually a pretty common thing to say.
  13. Well, it's not like these bros were overly tasteless in the recording. If they made money as accidental "independent journalists" this is no different than many of the other tragic events we see on the news today. I'm kind of glad that this footage exists, so there won't be endless speculation like with Fernandez. We don't have it all, but we have enough to get a reasonable picture of what went on. The legend of Roy Halladay doesn't match with the decisions made in that video. Single guy with no kids...you can afford to take some risks. Family man...really should have thought twice about that. Roy f***ed up, and he paid a disproportionate penalty for that mistake. Not really much more to say about this issue, so I will move on and hope others will too.
  14. I guess this is the biggest tragedy in baseball since the Jose Fernandez crash. When he passed on, I cared, but I didn't really care. In that I took a moment for the initial shock and to absorb the news and then moved on with my day. Same for most other deaths of celebrities I like. This is much different. Up until around 3pm yesterday I was in a great mood. Now I've just been feeling lousy. My first reaction based on the s***-for-brains that started this thread was that he was trolling for attention once again. But it turns out he wasn't joking. I didn't know Halladay personally, but I felt like I did, following his career. When he was pitching turds in 2000 and bottomed out in A-ball before becoming the dominant pitcher that we all know, that to me will be my defining memory of him. When life gets tough you can either whine about it or do something to get through it and persevere. When there's some adverse situation that you're facing, think "What would Roy Halladay do?" That will be his legacy to me.
  15. Yes, and wouldn't you be right now?
  16. This has ruined my perfectly good day. Now I'm glued to the Twitter to find out one way or the other ASAP.
  17. One of the many advantages of being "Canada's team", because apparently this franchise is entitled to the whole country and therefore all marketing of baseball to Canada must revolve around it. Hurry up and get the Expos back.
  18. If you were the President you would have created a new trending word on Twitter by now.
  19. Be fair to this guy. He's a White Sox fan and probably doesn't follow the Jays so closely. If he's thinking about the Dickey trade, he must think his proposal is reasonable for this organization.
  20. Come on Trump....send out a Tweet about how much you hate Japanese people.
  21. Because Ash, Godfrey, Beeston and Ricciardi are going to be the ones running the team for the next 20 years.... *Sigh* The alarmists are always going to be the alarmists, I guess.
  22. To be fair his batting average wasn't very good that first year.
  23. Hire back Ricciardi to help find the next Scutaro, then immediately fire him once the task is complete.
  24. I think this is easier said than done. Depending on a 35 yo who has played a handful of games at 2B/3B isn't really a sound strategy going into the season. Martin should really be #3/4 on the IF depth chart, a guy you really only put in there in a bind due to injuries or playing an 18 inning game. I don't have much issue gifting the backup job to one of the two prospects, whoever comes out better during the spring. They can't be worse on the bat side than last year, as long as the glove is good. Even -0.5 WAR is a one win improvement from last year.
  25. I dunno, this report looks like the MLB owners paid the writer off. Seems like a lot of those estimates are low.
