That kid took a nasty fall with the head on the ice. As bad as the McSorley stick on Brashear. Ovechkin proved he had balls though beating up someone that's 19 going on 15 so it was worth it in the end.

With the amount of ownage that the Blue Jays have taken at the hands of the Yankees over the last 25+ years, our city deserves the small victories we take over New York in hockey and basketball. Instead of leeching off of our city's MLB team, you two should cheer for your s***** minor league/semi-pro teams available to you in Mississauga and Ottawa if you hate our city and sports fans so much.
  3. Detroit also had to play well to secure a playoff spot while Milwaukee was cruising. That didn't impact their game today. Must have been from the Bucks being well rested.
  4. While lame, I'm not sure how that makes them more "woke" or whatever SJW term is applicable to the situation. Announcers/media have been doing this for years, even with white people. Q: Rob Butler, how do you feel winning a World Series playing a bit role with your hometown team? A: It feels great, but it would have been absolute s*** winning a World Series with anyone other than my hometown team.
  5. I have mixed feeling about this. As a dirty capitalist pig, I see the merits of trying squeeze every last penny in ad revenue. As a baseball fan, that looks stupid. Soccer may have been doing this for decades but it's also tastefully done to the point where a Man U AIG jersey, for instance, looks desirable to wear for someone into that team. That Ford logo on the other hand.... Also I don't see the benefit of putting Ford on the helmet. That shot aside, I mean, how many times is that logo going to be visible during the course of the game? It's on the side of the helmet facing the backstop...unless there's a logo on both sides....which....is......FINE....I....guess *suppresses rage*. I'm also surprised that Manfred would be the one to experiment on this. If anything it would be the NFL with its rock solid fan base that could get away with this potential landmine as the guinea pig. MLB is desperately trying to attract dirty hippie SJW Millennials to the game while keeping its legacy 60 year old KKK fan base. The only thing I see those two demographics having in common would be their mutual hatred of ads on baseball equipment.
  6. Now I hope Rodon has a breakout season.

Did you pick that up from Don Cherry? How do you know that these guys don't care? Boston played their game and frustrated the team, made worse by the refs. The one skater that cared in your eyes took a f***ing boarding penalty that put the Leafs shorthanded for the duration of the game, eliminating all possibility of a comeback, no matter how remote. The Leafs really don't need more of that. What they do need to do is to use their superior speed, talent and youthful legs to play their game, get out in front early and force Boston to not play their s***** 90's style NHL. Game one showed us there is absolutely no excuse. This team can run circles around Boston and Rask isn't the saviour he was back in the day. The $50 million coach was hired because of his extreme coaching skills so it's time for him to use that skill to tell this team what an armchair QB on a message board can figure out.

f*** this narrative. Boston is old as dirt and the Leafs are more talented. They need to play their game. One bad game on the road offsetting the first one doesn't make the series. Hopefully those refs get shot into the sun. I do agree that refs pulling back is an advantage to Boston's game though plenty of missed calls both sides.

Sorry. I had a chance to live bet the Avs at 16 to 1 odds after the second Calgary goal and didn't take it, so I knew this would happen.
  10. Well if it's any consolation the Raptors' bracket partner 76ers s*** the bed just as badly today. Raptors in 5 I guess.
  11. Oh yeah, I'm assuming this is the case only if Leonard goes west. A relatively painless rebuild would happen something like this: 1. Leonard goes west to the Clippers, Lowry traded to the Lakers. 2. Phoenix wins the draft so Williamson stays out of NY and Durant stays in the west. 3. Davis gets traded to Boston, we all concede next year to the Celtics, but that also costs them their future flexibility. Davis signs with LA the following year. 4. All the dogshit teams in the east remain dogshit so the Raptors pull off another 40+ win season and playoff appearance in a rebuild year. 5. Raptors clear their payroll and look ahead to recruiting Giannis with two middle to high first round picks (one from the Lakers) and a solid young core. Now enough of this talk, let's see the Raptors at least make it to the finals this year.
  12. I'm waiting for one of you nerds to combine this, the Bautista 50/50 rant one and Carlos' rant into an epic one-post-per-page post.
  13. I hope that's only a temp ban, no way does he deserve a permanent ban for this. Carlos Danger is this board's CM Punk. Taking it to the man and breaking the fourth wall with his truthbombs. A mediocre poster who will forever have a cult following. Many YouTube videos will be made in his honour. But if you really wanted to get under Hurl's skin, just join a fantasy league he is in and call your team the Drunken Injun Homos or something.
  14. I am happy to admit that I was totally wrong on how the Lakers' season would play out. But I really like where this is headed now. LeBron has a certain amount of respect for Lowry. The team should explore the possibility of raping the Lakers in a Lowry trade, including an unprotected first round pick if Leonard doesn't resign. It would have the potential to be a fast and painless "rebuild".
  15. Is it too much to ask to see a steamrolling of the Magic this series, 4-0 or 4-1? It seems like the Raptors have had to struggle for every little playoff success they have had. The team has never lost less than two games in any playoff series.
  16. Holy hell, it takes about 16 supercomputers to figure who the Raptors might face in the first round: https://www.nba.com/article/east-scenarios-2018-19-season I like the 7th and 8th scenario where Brooklyn and Orlando flip places based on whether Detroit or New York wins their game. I'm guessing some kind of 4th level tiebreaker s*** is going on there. I'm pretty indifferent to Brooklyn or Orlando. Both teams have occasionally stepped it up against good teams, both teams have had a better second half than first and the Raptors have generally handled both of them this year. I'd prefer to let Milwaukee handle Detroit. There is only one scenario where Detroit takes 7th seed.

Mentioning stuff that happened 50 years ago or even five years has no relevance to today since the rosters have churned many times over. That being said, my pro-Leafs stance because Gooooooo Canada!!! is not really that much of a thesis either.
  19. While doing no research on starting lineups today, I see the Raptors are -8 tonight which I assume means all hands are on deck and they are not punting the game. Glad to see someone smart behind the scenes knowing that if they win tonight they clinch home court against Golden State since the Raptors have the H2H tiebreaker.

Alright boys, just laid down a cool $25 at +130 for the Leafs to beat the Bruins in the series. Anyone who is not doing this is literally just throwing money away. Also laid down some money on the Jets as a Canadian team fan boy (the payoff on Calgary is s***) and considering the Canes and Sharks.
  21. When your top hitter is OPS'ing, like, .200, there is no such thing as a bad strategy to try to manufacture some runs. Guerrero can't get here soon enough.. Despite the s***** start, the pitching staff has me hopeful that this team can make 2019 not entirely a lost season. Let's see how the pitching handles Fenway. I could be eating my words with a couple of 10-0 blowouts.
  22. Holy f*** enough with the Donaldson BS. If he was OPS'ing 1.100 at last year's trade deadline instead of being a gimp with 5 games played on the year, the Jays would have gotten a good return. You can never predict when a player goes down to injury. Maybe play the percentages at best. The armchair QBing and hindsighting about this is vomit inducing. During the 2017 season people were very mixed on this board about when to trade him and were open to extending Donaldson, myself included. Yeah the FO didn't trade Donaldson "at the right time" like the Jims of the world would have. They also didn't give him $150 million which would have been an even bigger mistake. Look at what this FO did: Avoided giving Bautista $150M+ Avoided giving Edwin $100M Avoided giving JD $150M+ That's $400 million spread over five seasons saved from the absolute worst case scenario. Add back $30 million for Morales which is now in the past anyways. Mr. Homeless Poker Player who travels the U.S. watching baseball and shacking up in Motels 6's when not sleeping in his car put not extending Sanchez as a plus when that has never really been regarded as an issue so early in his contract life but neglects these three phantom positive non-signings that could very well have happened with Beeston at the helm trying to appease the fan base. And yeah piling on this douchebag begging for attention is well past its expiry date but I couldn't resist getting my shot in.
  23. How is glory incorrect. I hope Rogers does spend in 2020. Hell, I wished they spent money this year to improve the team. Spending does not mean trading away prospects.
  24. I disagree. If you look at the Morales/Encarnacion/Bautista situation holistically, they 95% read the market correctly. Morales' contract was better than Edwin's and light years ahead of what Bautista might have gotten if Beeston was still around.
