  1. One man's version of luck is another man's version of clutch or skill.
  2. The highlight of Buck's year for me was when Reyes had his first triple a few games ago. I swear I have never heard the word triple uttered by someone so many times in one sitting.
  3. Nice to see Mr. Hanky, the Christmas Poo, get a new hairdo.....ohhh I hope no one from the NAACP reads these boards
  4. Gotta love it when your SP gives up 5 runs in 5 innings, 3 HR, 4 walks with no K's and your offense still picks up the slack and gets the win.
  5. Yes the new model of success. Trade young power pitchers for aging vets with a history of durability! All this time you suckers were bad mouthing Anthopolous...turns out he was a visionary!
  6. You f***ers are going to jinx it with all of your positivity. Let's wait until August when they're 20 games over rather than May when they are 6 games over. There are a lot of issues on this team which have yet to be proven sustainable. The whole Francisco/Lawrie/Tolleson deal, the continued health of several players on this team and the back half of the starting staff. The Jays either need to continue to be lucky or have good contingency plans in case the luck runs out. The team has been VERY lucky thus far in finding a solution to 2B that seems more amicable than the options going into the season and the starting staff has been performing beyond mine and most other people's expectations.
  7. Fred Phelps is f***ing awesome. A troll 30 years before it was cool to troll. The very same man that crusaded for black civil rights in the 1960's and is somehow against every possible minority movement now. The very same man that patrols against dead US soldiers when they came back from Iraq, but somehow his belief system allows him to support Saddam Hussein, a Muslim socialist dictator while he's a right wing Evangelical Christian in the most strictest sense. His whole life he just says and does things to rub people the wrong way and has changed his ways with time to ensure he continues to irritate people....all trolls bow down to Fred Phelps. Plus no one normal gives two shits about that drugged-out AIDS-bag Matthew Shepard...his crusade against him made so many politically correct YouTubers angry
  8. Not if that new supportive market is Portland....then that's Seattle's problem and the Jays will have Cleveland to deal with.
  9. I haven't been around this forum for a while...so does EVERY thread end in this conclusion now?
  10. I agree. Practically every hard thrower is going down with injury. This is not sustainable. Eventually pitching is going to go to hell because parents are going to see the high injury rate for these athletes and steer their kids away from it into something that doesn't mean a 50% chance of destroying a body part after a few years in the pros.
  11. I like how you write this as if it's happening...3 of those 5 guys are probably here next Spring Training lol.
  12. 8. It was too "American League-y" today
  13. Amazing. If he had just said something along the lines of: "I want to be a starter, but I realize there's 5 guys right now doing a good job so I will do my best to earn my way into the rotation" it would have made a world of difference on how people portray his attitude and got essentially the same point across.
  14. The Jays, just like any other team will have a whole list of players in which they regret giving up, and will have a whole list of players that they got for a song. Unless there's an alternate universe where Chavez is pitching shutouts for the Jays, there's no way to know if he'd be any good here. Maybe Oakland had a coach that managed to get through to him, just like Bautista found the right mix here which he didn't find in his half dozen other organizations prior to that.
  15. There are too many Jews on Wall Street. There are too many blacks in jail. There are too many whites in drunk driving videos.
  16. I think it's the stigma from his generally low batting average. He's gotten a pretty fair amount of attention from the media over the past few years. Any casual fan will know him as the guy who can hit 40+ HR and hits .250
  17. Next thing you know Manny will be complimenting Anthopolous asking if he has lost weight recently.
  18. If there was ever a time to undo that restriction, now is it
  19. To be fair he managed to get Jose Cruz Jr for two relievers, one of the best trades this team has ever made. That more than offsets the Michael Young deal. Cruz didn't live up to lofty expectations but still was one of the better players playing for the Jays since the World Series years.
  20. One of you internet geeks needs to morph these two things into one: Man if only I knew how to embed a video on this site the images of these two would be playing simultaneously almost in alignment.
  21. His swing reminds me of the great former slugger Otis Nixon, minus the cocaine. Who knows maybe he'll get his chance to bunt his way into the final out of the World Series for the Cubs this year.
  22. Well, at least it looks like the players will know by the third inning. I think most people aren't too upset with 3-3, 6 games against the two biggest thorns in the side for this team this century, 4 of them having been on the road. Let's hope for a W tomorrow!
