  1. ...said the guy who has racked up a couple hundred posts on a baseball message board in (at most) a month!
  2. That's a huge allegation and massive insult >
  3. That one person who just voted wrong should volunteer his name and accept his shaming. We should check who else has posted some activity in other threads in the last 10-15 minutes as that's more likely to be the culprit.
  4. HR vs hits gave it away for me. More HR on a lot less hits = Bautista. This poll should be made public so the first person who gets its wrong can be properly mocked
  5. You're kind of a weirdo. If he does decide to change allegiances I'd assume all he'd do for you is wipe is ass on some tp and mail it to you...
  6. It's almost as if Anthopolous reads this board and started to implement improved roster management. Now that Gibbons has more than just cobwebs and retirees on his bench, he's actually using it pretty well.
  7. I got three names for you: Pat Gillick Al Leiter Jesse Barfield http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TOR/TOR198804140.shtml It was allegedly that game that convinced Gillick about Leiter. Although admittedly Barfield was already done by the time the Jays let him go.
  8. Maybe we should consult with the Rays' fanboys what they think about Oviedo. Without his screw up they might still be playing that game with no guarantees that the Blue Jays hit 9 games to blow it on #10. Incredible that just one day after there's so much rage and the luck from the night before is extinguished. Olerud talks about luck just above and how this team can't afford bad breaks. Well the way I see it the last two games perfectly offset each other and karma is in harmony.
  9. Ha! Fooled you! Let's use an example which doesn't end in s: What's your favourite boxing moment? What's your favourite boxing's moment? What sounds right? Haha yes the one with no apostrophe.
  10. Contending teams with shallow SP staffs as their weakness (as opposed to an offensive weakness) are relatively better off because they can relegate #4 and #5 to the pen. Whether Hutchison can last to the post-season as #3 is another question altogether.
  11. Check out Todd Stottlemyre, Dave Stewart and Jack Morris, 3/5ths of the starting rotation on the 1993 team. They combined to be barely above replacement level. So teams have won with Happ and Hendricks-like expected performances before. I know what you mean but "History also shows doing nothing almost guarantees another disappointing season and empty seats." Sounds like you were just trying to be a pain in the ass rather than come up with a real point.
  12. Because those are all obvious choices and this would become a very boring thread if everyone limited themselves to those picks. The favorite moment to me implies something that you think you would remember more or hold in higher regard compared to the average Jays fan.
  13. Does it? Lots of teams have gone from worst to first since I began following baseball. The problem is Jays fans' minds have been tarnished from years of competing with the Yankees and JPR crying poor against the Yankees payroll that we all have it stuck in our heads that spending = winning. Look at the World Series winners since the turn of the century. It's often not the case.
  14. Jays' Better now?
  15. The favorite one is one of my first baseball memories back when I was a kid...the 10-0 comeback at Fenway...Junior Felix inside the park grand slam. The Skydome opens shortly after that and back then that was ultra cool for a kid. I know nothing about Grade 2...all that information has long since been lost...but 1989 baseball memories...still there
  16. It's gotta tarnish your rep a little bit as a badass rapper if you throw worse than a little girl and have a wind up resembling a elderly fairy princess in the city's gay district.
  17. Rogers just cut a whole bunch of bodies from their work force once again. Imagine how good it looks to be adding $$$$ for baseball players to those people who don't know their future once their severance dries up. I have a running gag with my buddy who works there...if my emails to him start to bounce, I'll know what happened! He's not struggling financially so he can make jokes like that. Keep in mind it's some high school kid who wrote that article and who had that conversation with Pelley...someone who has very little understanding of how the corporate world works. Rogers is already in the upper tier in terms of payroll. The Jays aren't exactly being run by Jeffrey Loria here. If Anthopolous makes a good business case over spending some extra dough to get a certain player, then I'm sure Rogers will give him a fair chance to hear him out.
  18. Perhaps they would part with a Hutchison type of arm. Someone who (on their staff) would be a #5 guy today with future upside but is an obvious upgrade to Liam Hendricks for the Jays.
  19. Reminds me of every Bills game I've ever been to.
  20. I never would have thought a person who names himself after Kelly Gruber would be subject to such emotional and irrational responses in his online conversations....
  21. He can also provide value on a daily basis being a pinch runner and defensive replacement off the bench. The only reason against that would be that he needs playing time every day to develop. I think Gose is beyond that player development stage. The team is built to win now and your best shot at that is having Rasmus' bat in there every day with Gose's speed and defensive skill to be applied when needed.
  22. As long as Thole keeps doing his best Tony Gwynn impersonation over his limited role, he has earned his spot. Thole 56 PA .829 OPS Kratz 46 PA .617 OPS Neither of them has had a career that implies you gotta keep them both. At this stage it looks like Kratz could go.
  23. lol it would be cool to see it happen at least...I think surpassing Halladay's team record of 22 is achievable.
  24. Time to give some credit where credit is due. I was not a fan of trading for Mark Buehrle one year after he signed that contract, but let's face it he's the guy that has made that trade somewhat tolerable to think about.
  25. No reason to let him go while they are paying him good money. In the chance that Romero performs elsewhere while the Jays are still paying him...that would look bad. Just let him waste his life in this organization or figure it out on his own. It's not the Jays fault he can't spot the ball properly.
