  1. Well with Donaldson out he's the second best hitter on this team!

This game is what is meant by "playoff experience". This is probably the first time a lot of these kids have played an 80 minute and counting game. Short a man on defense too. Win or lose the Leafs come out better for having gone through this.
  3. Clay Buchholz for John Farrell FTW
  4. We look forward to you telling us which player you were thinking of once your kid finishes up with their snooty equestrian club.
  5. That comment had me looking up his transaction history to find out WTF Jim is talking about and I found this little tidbit out for the first time: June 8, 2010: Drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 18th round of the 2010 amateur draft, but did not sign. June 6, 2013: Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 1st round (2nd pick) of the 2013 amateur draft. Player signed July 12, 2013. Damn.
  6. He needs to dismantle the courts first. Make sure every judge from the Supreme Court to small claims court is a 70 year old white male conservative. Plus Jose Reyes is a black immigrant from an undesirable country suitable only for all-inclusive resorts. Trump has no desire to stand up for him.
  7. If you ever run for politics, remind me to never vote for you. You can't just spend your way out of problems.
  8. Love this thread. It's going to look so stupid in a month.
  9. Gotta love the Carrera and Goins hate when Carrera has pulled his weight and Goins has 4 PA. Yes dead weight on the bench but you're not going to pinch hit for Bautista, Martin, Travis or Pearce. I
  10. I distinctly recall this discussion and erosion of percentages to the mid-20's last year when the team was 19-24. We are owed at least one 11 game win streak this year.

If the Clinton Foundation is the charity it's going to, it's still a scam. I felt it was appropriate to dirty up the NHL thread with politics.

Well I'm one of those stupid MFers that does s*** like put $5-$25 on the NBA Bucks to win the opening series against the Heat back when they had LeBron and Wade at 75 to 1. So this would be right up my alley. But I learned years ago never to bet on teams which I have an emotional attachment.

This is hockey, not politics. I am allowed. As long as I keep myself from blowing up my online sportsbook account with crappy bets there is absolutely no harm in this. Go Canada!!!! Errr, I mean go random teams with players from a variety of countries that happen to have their home arena located in Canadian cities!!!! And Minnesota...because it's a cold, crappy small market that Bettman hates so it might as well be Canadian. Come on, there's got to be someone, especially a cruel cynic, who would love to see Bettman's pandering to the southern U.S. blow up in his face for a year. But yes, Jim has had some deliciously clueless posts in here too.

Don't feel bad. When I wrote that it was a total guess as to how things went (didn't look it up). Glad to see that I guessed right. You just have to think like Gary Bettman then all the nonsense the NHL does starts to make sense.

f*** you, you Canada-hating chumps: Leafs Habs Oilers Sens Flames Who cares Who cares Who cares Conference finals: Leafs vs Habs Oilers vs Wild (I guess I'll have to pick Minnesota to guarantee the biggest nightmare scenario for the commish) Gary Bettman jumps off a bridge.

I get what you're saying but the way the NHL designed things was to increase the chance of natural rivalries in the playoffs and it ALMOST worked with Ottawa/Toronto and Edmonton/Calgary coming within inches of being first round matches this year. As long as some games are three points and others only two in an effort to avoid ties, the playoff seeding won't be the league's biggest blunder. Besides, the other leagues are far more egregious. MLB's imbalanced schedule has all the A.L. East teams killing each other off every year while weaker Central teams compete for the wild card spots and the NFL's 4-team divisions sometimes results in 8-8 or 7-9 teams hosting playoff games while 10-6 teams get snubbed. The NBA is the only league that does things kind of right and even they are guaranteed that 2 of the top 3 teams won't be in the finals this year.
  18. 12 innings in two games!!! f***ers!!!!

This is BS. The Pacific is as weak as the Atlantic division. Teams in the Western Conference got to inflate their point totals playing trash teams all year. Not that I'm complaining too much that's how we went from 0 to 5 Canadian teams in the playoffs year to year. I hope the Leafs go on a 1991 North Stars run just to piss all you stat geeks off

Leafs are ahead because they have a game in hand. Boston has the most wins and therefore owns the first tie breaker.
  23. f***ing people. Saying this team sucks right now. The team is playing just fine, all except Liriano. Four very good starts out of five. Lots of good plate appearances 1-9. Lots of walks. The power isn't there yet but it's game 5. As far as the bullpen...show me the bullpen that goes 12 innings in 2 days that doesn't have a result similar to what the Jays had these past two games. f***.

Probably wouldn't work out too well with the TV schedule. Every game needs to be prime time in the local region. Remember the post-season scheduling for the Jays and people were pissed they were scheduled for the weekday day game.

16 of 30 teams make the playoffs. Bound to be a few .500-ish teams make it. Same with the NBA. Just be happy that you weren't old enough to remember when 16 of 21 teams made the playoffs....and the Leafs STILL were battling for a spot.
