I wouldn't be too worried. Columbus has been a wreck recently. Save Andersen for that game.
  2. Having a chance to look back and think about it, I think my favourite part of last night's game was how the hitters handled Britton. Especially in the context of getting raped by Miller during the ALCS. Britton's line: 2IP, 3H, 1BB, 1K, 23 pitches 13 strikes 10 balls, 9 batters faced. He got the job done, but this isn't exactly a dominant line. The team laid off the sinker pretty well and forced him to go up in the a strike zone a bit. If this is the approach the hitters will take this year it will be a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to this season.

So who to cheer for tomorrow? Boston or Tampa? If the Leafs win and Tampa loses in regulation, they clinch a playoff spot. But if Boston loses that increases the chance of the Leafs getting the #2 seed. I'll be cheering for no overtime in that game
  4. I have to disagree with this. I thought Tulo, like most of the rest of the team had some good plate appearances. As far as Martin, he may not provide much value offensively, but is far from an albatross. We can't underestimate the contributions of him and Pete Walker to the pitchers, particularly the starting staff, outperforming their projections. For the Jays to compete this needs to happen again this year and I'd prefer to not rock the boat on what has apparently worked so far.

Love the three different goals from three different lines in 30 seconds. Everyone gets a point and +1

Don't the Wild cards switch? Canadiens will play the Rangers.
  7. I see that Gruber has the red font of death in front of his name. Oh goody, I can't wait to scroll through his last several posts to see the hilarity that resulted in that ban.
  8. Lots of good to come from this game. Estrada and the entire BP did well. Lots of walks and good, drawn out plate appearances. Gibbons did about as well as you can expect. Just couldn't put it all together today. If the Jays play the other 161 games like they did the first one, they will win 95 games this year.
  9. Yes, but to be fair the Orioles were already throwing Tyler Wilson at the Jays and they supposedly have the world's best BP.
  10. Literally zero tool bench. Even the Orioles have Gentry who can run...oh wait... And to think we thought those days were behind us the moment Dickey and Thole were cast away. BP I disagree with you, they did well in this one game sample.
  11. Yes he definitely saved the game though a more spry outfielder would have made that great play of his look more routine. My shoulder hurts just watching him throw one to the infield though.
  12. No #clutch hitting is what he meant.
  13. f*** off to all of the people criticizing the pitch selection or pitching. A thousand men left on base today is why the Jays lost. Pitching was solid from the first pitch to the last. EDIT: Not only LOB, but most of those were from free passes.
  14. Agreed. It's like people just hear something from a source that they think is smart and they repeat it ad nauseam with absolutely no thought into what they are saying. Castro wasn't ruined because of his 2 week stint in the MLB with the Jays in 2015. And if he was, that probably means he doesn't have the mental makeup of an MLB player anyways.
  15. Plus Vizquel at least WAS somebody useful at one time. If I had the choice between a washed up player and a talentless scrub and both were projected to be equally useless, I'd take the has-been. Phil Niekro first ever HOF member to play for the Jays.
  16. They always have stupid start times for opening day games. I remember when I was in grade 5 the janitor had the Jays opening day game in his "office" on TV across the hall and my desk was situated close to the door where I could see it. It was against Detroit. The only memory I have of 10 years of being at that K-8 school.
  17. 91-70 One game gets rained out and is never made up. Have to differentiate myself from the crowd.
  18. Is this going to be a meme on this board, along with Morales forever? The good/lucky moves have far outweighed any of the bad. Morales, Smoak, Bautista and Coghlan are on this roster now at a combined committed dollars of around $60 million. This time last year there was talk of $100M+ going to Bautista alone. 2/20 for each of Morales and Coghlan would have been reasonable expectations as well. They Jays have come out WAY ahead with this league trend of declining demand for aging vets who play non-premium positions.
  19. Good bet on his part. Him and his agent took one look at the Jays OF/IF depth and figured there will be a decent chance he gets a call up by June.
  20. It's funny because it's pretty much the exact opposite. These terms like SJW and cuck at least when applied to white males are meant to imply that the they are guilt-ridden, self-hating wimps.
  21. Every time I see something like that it reminds me of Dave Dravecky or Tony Saunders.
  22. Meh...I can see their thought process. It's a wasted season no matter what. So throw a lot of garbage out there, hope some of those pitchers do well in that ballpark then see if they can be flipped for something useful at the deadline. Harping about San Diego's decisions about their rotation is a little like harping the Browns for acquiring Osweiler. Shrewd move in a s***** situation.
  23. I'd love to see all ya'll's hero Bernie Sanders trudge out there lob one 40 feet underhand then wheeze his last breathe from a heart attack. Old people are old no matter their political leaning. They don't build robust Presidents like Bush Jr. anymore.
  24. For those complaining. The grass is always greener... Three more full seasons and Gibbons passes Gaston as the team's most tenured manager. If those three seasons average a few games over .500 then winningest manager as well.
  25. Nice. Better be wary of board Casanova Jimcanuck.
