They can't. Danny Jansen has been so bad that they would feel guilty doing so. They are desperately trying to trade Reese. Jansen should be grateful he is the Ryu Whisperer. I mean losing the glove and the one other pitch last night was a bad look on Reese last night, but his framing statistics this year are slightly better than Jansen this year. Go back over the last couple years and Jansen might be a tick better, but they both frame reasonably well. McGuire has thrown out runners much better this year than Jansen. His bat has been better. I think Jansen calls a better game, but that's hard to quantify. We have 2 back up catchers. We need to get rid of one. Most on here would get rid of Mcguire as if it's a no brainer. I've lost some patience with Jansen. Athletically he should be the better, but how long do you have to wait for a kid to put things together. If someone wanted Jansen in a trade over Mcguire I'd get rid of Jansen. Our best catcher is Kirk and he's on a 7 game hitting streak after playing 7 games in AAA. He needs to be up with the Jays.

If Kimbrel was a free agent at the end of this year he probably gets 3 and 45 or 3 and 48. He's been stupid dominant this year and rich clubs pay big money. He might even get a 4th at a reduced AAV. One year 16 mil is actually a pretty good deal. You get the best closer in baseball from 2021 who's put up an ERA of .57 without the long term risk.

Bryant has a .530 OPS over his last 28. I know you have to look at the full season, but trading for a slumping player is a bit scary. Yeah Bryant is on pace for 4 wins, but only if he turns things around.

Kimbrel actually is worth 16 mil this year and may very well be worth 16 mil next year. I don't really view it as a poison pill. How many more wins would the team have had if they had Kimbrel this year? 3, 4,5? His contract is fully valued, but he's more than earned his money and I don't see it as a problem committing 16 mil next year. The expensive contract will reduce his trading price. The cubs have had a carousel going for the back up catcher spot. At this point Reece Mcguire and a lottery ticket prospect. I'd do that deal.

Ryu got screwed on that 3 and 2 pitch. I couldn't help but notice that painted fastball was 93. I don't think I've ever seen Ryu hit 93.

I like the Brewers team. I like Rowdy. 2 teams trading from areas of strength. I hope both teams prosper. You don't see 2 teams in the hunt for the playoffs trading that often anymore.

So we basically know nothing as an acute head injury covers a wide spectrum, and until the medical report is released we won't know the extent of any injuries. We won't find this information out unless this goes to court. Stating it was a concussion or wasn't a concussion is probably just adding your own bias' in. I guess we'll just have to wait this one out.

No one is trading big prospects for Scherzer. Look at what Darvish got traded for. His return was underwhelming and he had 3 years at 18.66 AAV. Scherzer is going to ask for 2 years 70 to be traded now. I might trade Hiraldo or Lopez and some pitcher in the system I've never heard for Max, but that's about it.

The only thing off was people's expectations. People like Jim have been posting for the last year about SWR being our savior and in the rotation next year. Look at Pearson. Young arms can take time. SWR may be a couple years off. He's got good stuff. Pearson has a good arm too and if he can ever get healthy I think he's going to contribute. Then there's Manoah who's an instant hit. Seriously, projecting pitching is a fools game. It's so hard to predict arms.

Looking up the box score and watching Kirk crush it in AAA over the next week is going to be incredibly frustrating.

I know. I was trying to calculate that. I think he needs 30 or 31 more appearances. You could obviously manipulate it. He's close to being on track for the option. I don't know why players get these types of options. They're going to complain when they shockingly fall 2 games short of the vesting option.

Kimbrel is the perfect piece. He's expensive enough that it takes some teams like A's or even the Sox who want to keep under the tax out of it. We just have to convince the suits upstairs to spend the money.

Rodriguez only has 2.5 years of control. I think the Pirates will ask a ton for him. Honestly I want no part of him. I would love to get Rogers though.

I get that, but Shapiro said we have the ability to take on salary. We're taking on a little less than 6 mil at the deadline. This really is nothing for Rogers. It's going to take greater prospect capital to get Rodriguez. I get that he has a couple years of control, but Kimbrel is the better player and might be the dynamic piece that could really help this year. It's only costing money. We save the prospects.

Maybe the Jays should just go get Kimbrel. I mean, it's not my money so what the hell.
