  1. I'll be flipping back and forth too....the England vs Italy game is going to be a good game...
  2. That's the problem...we need a starting pitcher, but there's so much parity in the league that you can't buy anything right now unless you massively overpay. We have to make due for another month.
  3. Sanchez struck out 14 over his last 11 and 2/3rds while walking only 3. Was it luck, did he make adjustments. Why did the Jays want to promote him. Did they want to see how his stuff played at the next level. Did they want him to work with a different pitching coach, catcher, be around a different type of player. I have no idea what their reasons were. I'm giving the organizational management structure the benefit of the doubt because they have all the information. I know it's popular to disagree with every decision AA makes. He's clearly wrong all the time. Posters here who are working with far less information can easily make the right decisions. This game is so easy to make the right decisions that it's amazing how incompetent AA is when he has all the information and is still making the wrong decisions when joe blow can discern what is right or wrong with a fraction of the information. Time will tell whether or not it was wise to move Sanchez up to AAA. I don't have an issue with people discussing why it may not be the correct decision. I just take issue with those that are convinced it was wrong. I don't understand how you could possible come to that conclusion. I'm Switzerland, it's more about getting on the constant Jays bashers. I wish the Jays would have replaced AA in the offseason....maybe it wouldn't be so negative around here all the time.
  4. I have no opinion on how good he can be. I base my opinion off scouting reports I've read and the sample size of his stats, which are 322 innings spread over 4 years of the ages 17 to 21. There isn't enough playing time for me to be certain of anything when you are talking about such a young kid developing with the type of arm and movement he has. Would I prefer to see a lower walk rate..sure. Do I think he can cut that walk rate down..sure. Do I think that there's a possibility that he will never get the command to become a dominant pitcher and be a bust like drabek....sure that could happen too. Many wanted to dole out 50 mil for Jiminez who has a career walk rate of 4.3 in the majors with a much larger sample size, and they won't give Sanchez who is a kid developing with a 4.9 walk rate ion the minors a chance? Baseball minds far more bright than my own rank him as a high prospect. I don't understand why people have definitively come to the conclusion of bust on this kid already. These were my points. I don't know s***, but I don't think many on here know much more than me about the kid.
  5. So you saw him in spring training and a 3 minute youtube clip and you know what he is. Give me a break. Firstly, you seeing him in person means nothing if you don't know what you're looking for. Sorry, for being a bit skeptical about your expert talent assessment. He's still ranked as a pretty high prospect. I have no idea if he will pan out or not, but for all of you who think you definitely know what Sanchez is or isn't or what he will become...again give me a break. You're not as smart as you think you are.
  6. You haven't seen the guy pitch. Your whole basis for evaluation is the guys walk rate. His hits per 9 are very low but that's all luck. Roy halladay walked 5.6 and struck out 5.9 per 9 when he was 23. You would have traded him and lost out on one of the dominant guys in the game for the next 10 years. Sanchez clearly needs more work, but you have no idea how close he is to improving his control issues. I get the feeling you'd trade Sanchez for a middle reliever right now which is stupid.
  7. Do you really think promoting Sanchez had anything to do with the fans? Couldn't it be as simple as trying to give the kid a confidence boost and wanting him to work with a different pitching coach. Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one.
  8. I'm not so certain about your true ability to evaluate teams true talent. There were a few of us said this was an above .500 team from day 1. This offense is one of the top 3 offenses in the AL....The bullpen with Jannsen and McGowan back are solid, but underperformed till now. The starting rotation is much better than last year. I don't know how you even evaluate guys like stroman and hutch with so few innings under their belt. If you just go on talent they grade well. This team will also add. Happy won't be in the rotation all year.
  9. f*** off with the 7 innings xFIP...he gave up one run..
  10. f*** I missed the start of the game...there was no game day thread 15 minutes ago so I assumed there was a rain delay.
  11. delabar is looking good tonight...even that was a good pitch....good hit by nunez
  12. man...this just isn't our night...too many hard hit balls right at guys
  13. early in the season he left 2 games in a row with runners on and 2 outs and the bullpen didn't bail him out and he got screwed over...those things tend to even out over a season
  14. They told him to aim for the middle of the plate...he's now hitting the corners...
  15. dickey has given up more than 3 earned runs only once in his last 10 games. The Jays have won more games than they have lost when he's started games..he's not as bad as you think he is.
  16. buehrle, dickey, hutch and stro are fine....we need someone at the top and giddy up.
  17. I know...that was the point....look at his performance last year vs this year.
  18. read my statement. I said he's good at calling games. Buehrle never shakes a sign off. I never said he's great defensively. He's average at blocking balls, below average throwing, and the voodoo pitch framing has him below average, but when it comes to handling pitchers and calling games, he's done a good job. He's got a .307 obp which is definitely better than what we had last year and he played hurt for a while..I think his offensive numbers will climb a bit.
