  1. adam...why are we compounding our errors. This team has zero chance of competing. Why did they get Donaldson?
  2. Yes...I read it. I'm pretty sure someone posted it on here somewhere.
  3. Who's that Davidson guy? Lawrie will likely take a step forward next year. I doubt he reaches Donaldson level....maybe the following year he does reach full potential. Lawrie's ceiling is where Donaldson is already at. He comes with injury concerns and he has 3 years of control. Donaldson has 4 years of control and he's not going to decline much in his 29 to 32 age years. Look at what the trade deadline was like this year. What sort of prospects will Donaldson fetch in 2 or 3 years if you want to trade him? He's a very valuable asset.
  4. It could be a trade that works for both teams...especially of Baretto works out. Donaldson provides more certainty and very much could influence other free agents still on the market.
  5. I would resign melky if the price was right...but I'm interested to see what Dirks can do if anything.
  6. AA's next move and much deserved is to sleep in, turn off his phone and hit the best all you can eat greek buffet in the city. Then he's going to resign melky.
  7. resigning melky on a reasonable 3 year contract would not be the worst thing in the world.
  8. So I wonder how tomorrow mornings workout with Jose will go. So Melk....we got Donaldson at third and Martin at catcher. You know Eddie's only making 10 mil this year...you sure you don't want to lower your asking price and come back into the fold?
  9. barreto may very well turn out 4 years from now, but the Yankees have a 200+ million dollar payroll for a crappy lineup. In 4 years they may have a 200+ million dollar payroll of good players. We got 4 years of Donaldson for 3 years of Lawrie. Nolin and Graveman may turn out, but with Norris, Sanchez, stroman, Hoffman and hutch we could afford to give up pitching. The A's are going to have a much harder time competing this year. They gave up the farm to go for it last year and it didn't work out. They had to rebuild the farm and now we are making a push to go for it this year. We're still a couple pieces away. Should be interesting to see what moves we make next.
  10. how much better will he be defensively than melk man?
  11. Bruce clearly wasn't healthy last year. Makes you hesitant about his health moving forward, but if he can return to health he will be a lot better next year regardless of where he plays.
  12. yeah..it could be dickey and thole!
  13. I wouldn't mind Bruce, but there's no way Alex is giving up Sanchez for Bruce.
  14. If the Jays miss out on Lester, scherzer, Shields...would anyone here have an appetite for Liriano on a 2 or 3 year deal.
  15. If you are so far away from it that you have zero chance, go for the rebuild. We aren't that far away and the Royals barely made the playoffs. We also had the highest payroll in baseball with Gillick when we won the world series. That's not a slight against Gillick. He was fantastic, but having money never hurts!
  16. I agree, their rebuild was great. All it took was 29 years to get that rebuild right. Last time they made the playoffs was 1985. It's an easy process.
  17. I've read 30 to 50% of posts since joining...100% is an impressive number. You really are an accountant!
  18. I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic. 5 for 90 made me go hmmn...5 for 110 is more like what teams like the redsox pay for players like hanley. I don't want the Redsox getting any deals.
  19. if the jays acquire jaso that would mean our first two acquisitions of the offseason were 2 catchers. Who in a million years would have predicted that.
  20. we're talking amaro...if it was the Jays asking for hamels he'd probably want sanchez, stroman and pompey. He's going to ask for the moon for Hamels.
  21. I remember how the world came to an end when the Yankees signed beltran, mccaan, tanaka and ellsbury...but then the Yankees were crap last year. Boston's rotation is hot garbage. They do have pieces that can be traded to upgrade their though. I agree the Jays need take note of two big players signing for Boston that will make them better. We should go out and add, but I don't think Boston vaulted way ahead of the Jays with these 2 signings.
  22. I thought the Ramirez signing was a good one....I think Sandoval got too much money, but he's still a good player making them a better team next year. It never gets easier. The Jays need to go get lester or at least sign an outfielder...
  23. but they won't....but they will be looking for starting pitching. They have enough outfielders for 2 teams so they will definitely be moving a couple. I could see them getting Zimmerman.
  24. Blatt has to be feeling some pressure right now.
