  1. yes....leicester city with a goal!
  2. and he pitched what 60 or 70 innings last year as a starter and his entire pro career includes another 360 innings as a starter in the minors spread over 5 years and ages 17 to 21.
  3. Tulo has a full no trade clause and if he puts up a 4 to 5 war season, why do you want to move him anyways?
  4. don't discount the modern family reruns...that show rocks...watch them every day!
  5. A guy who works out relentlessly and is in good shape can't put a lot of weight on in a short time as he's already at a plateau and gains are slow and incremental. A kid like Sanchez who is 6'3 and hasn't worked out hard before is the ideal candidate to make gains in a short frame. You can make significant gains in a shorter period if you haven't worked out a lot before and being 6'3 he's a tall kid with a lot of room to put weight on. He didn't put on 25 pounds of lean muscle, but he may have put on 20 or 25 pounds and a significant portion was muscle gain. Point is he has put on some muscle and worked his but off in the off season.
  6. Cecil has had elite swing and miss stuff since transitioning to being a reliever. It hasn't been one year, it's been three years now. Cecil has never been able to limit walks until last year. I think he has a better feel as a reliever now and will continue to limit the walks. If he's around 2 walks per 9 this year he's going to get paid. He's the most under appreciated players on the team. I'm predicting a multi year deal with an AAV north of 7 mil per year.
  7. Toronto is the 4th largest market size in North America. The Jays draw from all of Canada. The dollar is 74 cents now, which is great because it's the 5.2 billion dollar hockey deal that is the real issue. Hope the dollar moves up closer to .80 by year end.
  8. voted mediocre....did like the Storen trade. Could have voted good if they would have signed Cecil to an extension. Cecil is going to be dynamite this year. They probably won't be willing to pay him if he hits free agency.
  9. I like Sauders too. He's cheap. I'm glad the trade for Bruce didn't go through. Save your money for other players and roll the dice with Saunders.
  10. why do you think he has no power?
  11. so it was jose who leaked all these numbers? Give me a break. Jose has always been very forthcoming with the media. He was asked about negotiations. He said he gave them a number, and didn't believe in a home town discount. Nothing he said is out of line. He has a year left on his contract and would like to test free agency to see where his value truly lies. The only way he is going to miss out on this opportunity is for the Jays to meet his number. His number is likely high because he wants to test free agency. This is his prerogative. He didn't play out his final year last year and it cost him a lot of money. This time if he plays out his final year and has a bad year it could also cost him a lot of money, but he obviously feels confident in his abilities. Negotiations can begin in earnest in the offseason. We wouldn't be talking about all this at length if all these numbers hadn't been leaked.
  12. where did the numbers come from? Was it complete fabrication or did it come from the Blue Jays or the agent. The most likely source is the blue jays. They are already dealing with a PR nightmare with the Saunders deal, but at least in that situation it is plausible leaks were outside the organization. The people working for the Jays need shut their traps.
  13. these leaks are somewhat disturbing. For all we know Bautista threw out a ridiculous number just to see how long it would hit the media. There seems to be a lot more blue jays information available to the media under the new regime.
  14. no one is giving jose 5 150. Irresponsible journalism is the cause of most of this fuss. Jose has a number he wants. He's entitled to wait. There's risk on both ends. If Jose has a great year someone will probably give him 4 100 or 5 110. The Jays will have to decide if they want to match that level of commitment. Jose and Sandoval are polar opposites. Sandoval got big years and dollars because he was young, but he does't take care of his body and his contract isn't a great one. Jose despite being old may very well keep his level of play up and earn his 4 year 90 or 100 or whatever he ends up getting. 39 no good is just the norm. Jose could be the outlier and be 39 and very good, but there's no guarantees in baseball. That's what makes it interesting.
  15. If you really believed pompey could blossom, you wouldn't add salary and give up a prospect plus saunders to acquire bruce though. I don't think Atkins has the confidence in pompey or saunders. Saunders I get as far as the injury risk goes, but I think Pompey is legit.
  16. The Jays better be getting cash back in this deal.
  17. to be fair....he was and well, pretty much everyone was drinking....and Joe Montana was the there. Him and Colabella weren't even the headliners...so maybe he was trying to impress Joe!
  18. heard it straight from kevin pillar tonight. He's ready to prove everybody wrong and be a great lead off hitter if given the chance!
  19. Reyes had put up 5.9 and 4 win season's prior to the trade. Are you trying to say you were predicting Reyes would be a negative asset by the time of his age 32 season? Your hindsight brilliance is extraordinary. If I could buy you a hero cookie for your outstanding baseball acumen, I would.
  20. pillar too....and in 2 years alford, greene and some others will be added to the mix.
  21. the sky is falling in, the sky is falling in!
  22. I'm firmly on the pillar bandwagon. I think he's going to have a breakout season offensively. I know I'm in the minority, but that's one of my bold predictions for the season.
  23. beltran got 15 mil a year and I'm not saying his deal was a good deal. I'm saying it would have been a bit more palatable if there was flexibility for him to DH. Bautista can still play right field. He will be able to play first and obviously DH. You're not paying 20+ million for a DH. Where you position him changes throughout the life of the contract.
  24. Beltran bounced back hitting wise last year. He's just not meant to play the outfield, but he can't DH in New York.
  25. chipper, thome, marlin byrd, tori hunter, beltran.
