Borucki doesn't believe that. He's said many times he views himself as a starter and in July Montoyo said the Jays view him as a starter. This isn't a normal year. The best free agent reliever last year just got 3 and 39. We're debating whether or not to give Giles 3 and 30. We just gave Roark a number 5 innings eater 2 and 24. Why would Borucki not want to be a starter? Batters are batting .080 against him this year, he's struck out 14 batters in 7.2 innings. He's given up a couple more walks than you'd like, but his breaking ball is far better than it was in 2018 when he put up a 3.8 FIP. His fastball is a lot better than it was in 2018 when he put up a 3.8 FIP. His best pitch in 2018 was his change up.
When you have 3 good pitches, how can you not consider him for a starting position? This debate is far from over. You might not think he's good enough to be a starter. I completely disagree. He's 26 years old, not 30. I hope he's given every opportunity to start next year. You can always put him back in the pen. He's never failed as a starter.
