1) Slippery slope arguments are terrible because there is no reason you have to continue going down the slope
2) The number of people in Seattle who are going to refuse to go to Seattle Mariner games because of this is statistically irrelevant (and even if it were relevant, it would be a dying demographic). The number of people for which this gesture is going to make a very good impression is very large. It is a business decision to try to reach out in a positive way to fans for a team that has sucked for quite a long time now.

Not even close. JPA has no value, Nolin is the next Nestor Molina, Cardona is a million years away from the bigs and Bonifacio may be out of baseball in two years.
