  1. The Padres will almost undoubtedly fall out of the race unless you think Marquis can continue to fluke his way to a 3.63 ERA.
  2. I don't think you're going to get much of anything for Lind since he is seen as a platoon DH.
  3. He's having a good season, probably won't maintain that .393 BABIP though.
  4. I'd say he's a thistle. Only the Welsh may be daffodils.
  5. The Rangers aren't going to trade Profar for Bautista because they are a well run club.
  6. I think the most important thing to do is to make sure all your good hitters are batting back to back. This means no dividing the leadoff hitter and the 3, 4 hitters with some lousy bat control middle infielder who can't do anything but bunt (and no batting JPA cleanup).
  7. Most of the pieces except 5 starting pitchers.
  8. Both the Mariners and the Yankees ended up losing that Montero for Pineda deal.
  9. I'm not convinced that the best way to solve our abysmal SP is to cripple the defense even further.
  10. The RA Dickey trade might be the worst trade in the history of baseball.
  11. Juan Francisco isn't very good.
  12. There are a lot of reclamation projects on the Mariners. I wouldn't mind trying to fix Smoak as well.
  13. The Mariners might be the only team in baseball as incompetent as the Jays so they could very well trade Ackley. I'm not convinced he is going to be much of anything though.
  14. Would it? Lawrie hasn't exactly set the world alight this season.
  15. I think hitting in clutch situations is different than normal situations but the problem is that it is hard to quantify statistically. I also imagine it is extremely variable since it would depend on a player's confidence (which will change month to month, never mind year to year) so it does not make a whole lot of sense to value it on the market.
  16. No real need to trade off JJ until closer to the deadline. Other changes should be made in the offseason, preferably with a new GM.
  17. Tough to see what exactly we have that the Nats would want (other than EE) though.
  18. I think Snider is going to have a big second half. The Pirates seem to be handling him very well.
  19. What about Wilson Ramos? Is he any good at this defensive stuff? Nats seem to be a bit spoiled with Ramos + Suzuki but its hard to see what needs they have.
  20. How is Iannetta's defense? He's a FA next year and I get the feeling that the Angels don't like him much.
  21. At this rate Thole's 27 BB last year is going to be more than JPA will have in the rest of his career.
  22. Well yeah the starting pitching is the main problem and they should all be ashamed of their performance so far but the JPA/Rasmus/Lawrie/Bonafacio axis of underachievement aren't exactly helping things much.
  23. Because if you are getting on base, you are not making outs.
