Yeah scumbag isn't necessary here, lets relax a little bit. The guy was heavily involved in the ALS association among other charities, and gave back to many kids in the community by inviting them to hang out before every Sunday home game. He was one of the most generous players in the league.
The guy was young and emotional and made a mistake, but to call him a scumbag is a joke. Hell texting and driving is worse than what he did, but I'm sure you're not about to call your friends and family scumbags.
