Yordano Ventura, Andy Marte, Jose Fernandez, Oscar Taveras, Victor Sanchez, Yorman Landa. All dead from car or boat accidents in latin america in the past 27 months.
Edit: Fernandez died off the coast of Florida I should say.
Probably nothing. They're both a few years older and have a few years of big league time getting used to the life. They probably just want to have their own places. The media maybe overplayed their closeness.
I saw Tim Leiper, Ryan Goins, Robert Goins, Mark Appel, Nikki Huffman, Ian Happ, Matt Smoral, Marc Hulet, Paul Quantrill, Devon Whyte?, Gibby, Justin Shafer. Maybe I missed some other notable names.
The fact that the game is a subjective length is dumb. I'm fine with not stopping it when the balls goes out of bounds or for a free kick. But there should be an end to a half. The ref deciding when the blow the whistle is dumn. The clock should absolutely stop when players are rolling around on the ground pretending to be hurt. That culture needs to go from the game.
Put a ref on each and let the linesmen just call the lines. Plus there are a million other things they could do to get the diving culture out of the game, whether it be retroactive fines or suspensions for repeat offenders. One of the 4 north american sports leagues would've at least tried some new ideas to change things up.
Whatever. Give them a whistle then. That or two refs and the linesmen just calls the lines and offsides.
It's a championship game, play until someone scores. Maybe look at changing the number of players or field size after the first 30 minutes of overtime.
I don't understand how anyone could defend this lol. Do you honestly like that it's a guessing game? Move the penalty marker back.
I didn't say the only excitement comes from goals but when a team wins a championship game without a shot on goal you have a problem. They should absolutely try to add more scoring chances into the game.
Remind me to never watch a soccer game again.
Is there any particular reason they don't want to fix their sport?
- the clock should stop
- they should actually try to get rid of diving
- should be more than one referee
- penalty shootouts should never decide anything past the regular season/group stage
- penalty shootouts should obviously be taken from farther back
- changes should be made to the field or number of players to increase scoring
Is there something inherently pure about guys diving for 90 minutes while some old guy 60 feet behind the play blows the whistle randomly and nobody ever scores or gets a shot and then the game is decided on what is essentially a coinflip?
Oh, and the governing body is a corrupt piece of garbage.
Things worked out really well. Lost Smoral and Flores (who cares?), kept Rios and Perdomo and picked up a potential bullpen piece. A career minor league starter who sits 92-93 with reported deception and plus fastball command. Just need a find a half decent breaking ball and hope for an uptick or two in the velocity and he could become a valuable reliever.
He's probably in a better situation now, honestly. Just because he elected free agency doesn't mean he disliked the Red Sox org.
He either gets to stick in the big leagues or he just goes back to the place he signed.
He made some egregious decisions this year and sometimes he falls in love with scrubs but he has an 80 personality. Wouldn't be opposed to seeing him go but I'm fine with him sticking around.
