  1. great read , So my question is which team will be smart enough to hire the best Russian hacker ? hack the site and have some of the best info out there . Get it done and that would be huge advantage
  2. If they do sign him watch Boras start crying the blues again about rogers not willing to spend a gazillion $$$ on his clients .
  3. I don't read anything into this other than Happ is hurt . That may have been what prompted AA to really go after another starter . he has to be healthy to be traded especially with his price . Healthy and pitching decent .
  4. I would not wager a huge amt on a parade . The team still has to be almost perfect health wise to get close . Take a long look No positional depth No top of rotation depth Questional upgrade at catcher This team can not sustain any injuries that puts replacement or actually below replacement players anywhere on the field for more than a 15 day dl stint and can't afford many of those . Even with that we need a lot of luck .
  5. We agree that they are now an 82 to 85 win team . I have said all offseasn they needed about 170 mil to get right into the thick of things . pretty obvios to me that AA didn't have that kind of budget . So is the failure Rogers , Beeston or AA . I have managed a division of a large Oil Company and had budgets to work with . I had bosses ,they wanted it spent certain ways and I could not exceed budget . When I did thru no fault of my own I got lashes . All my managers thought they could do a better job spending that money than I did . What they didn't realize was I agreed but my bosses didn't . I don't blame AA for the off season . He did what he thought was best with the cards that were dealt . I'm sure most here ( All of us wantabe GM,s think we could have done better . Do I like the Santana signing ? he was low on the list of pitchers I wanted but it is 1 year and our farm system is intact . Now no one can say AA can't or won't sign a free agent .
  6. I think the truth will come out now . If AA does not get Santana then he just has no money . Personally I don't like Santana in these small AL east Ball Parks but he is better than Happ .
  7. O,s like the Jays will go as far as their rotation takes them . I have said all winter Morrow is the key for the Jays and Jiminez and Tiilman will be key for the O,s . Jays have a better BP and If Morrow really becomes what his talent indicates and Dickey is healthy we can match up with anyone then it is all about someone stepping up into the 4th spot and giving the Jays a chance to win.
  8. Have to assume he'll have a new agent for next year
  9. The Buffalo rotation should be pretty good and the Lansing team should be fun to follow. With 2 first round picks in a strong draft class the draft will fill this board with lots of opinions prior to the draft and tons of moaning and groaning after.
  10. Obviously , Has no money to spend and like a lot of posters said early in the offseason it would take about 170 mil to really make this team a contender. As for Capuano ? Meh ,guy is a 6th starter and we have 3 of them
  11. McGuire is way down the depth chart this year . I'm looking for the Diabetic Duo to have great starts .
  12. Health and a hell of a lot of Luck . The injury god needs to focus on the rest of the AL east
  13. Everyone makes the same in Cuba East. Doctors don't make much more than a teacher. I had a tour bus guide who was a doctor and she told me because of tips she made way more as a guide . everyone wants to work in the tourism industry . When you go to Cuba , you take tons of stuff and leave it there . Advil , toothbrushes , cosmetics , they love you when you do that
  14. Yoon makes no sense for us , We have 4,s and 5,s . We don't need another one .
  15. Well I can honestly say i hope the guy is closer to bust than elite but you right Vik . No one knows how he handles the majors and the transition . Lots to adjust to and not just baseball , Culture , living in New York , all the travel Etc Etc . Many who were good MLB players could not adjust to playing for the Yankees . Burnett comes to mind .
  16. While I like the way AA got creative to add this guy i don't get overly excited about 17 year olds in the DSL .the bust rate for these guys is probably at 80 to 90 % . I'll wait till I have seen these types play a year of full season ball at Lansing before getting all hyped about them
  17. Hell he is a perfect fit for us but if we can't sign the guy then better he stays in the NL . I really don't mind hugely overpaying for a 1 year deal and if he wants I would offer him a deal that we would not qualify him in case he wants to pitch another year . I really think we need more than just 1 starter with all our holes but a 1 year deal without losing a draft pick and not gutting the farm is perfect for us.
  18. MLB Radio said his goal was to pitch in the NL close to his home in Baltimore on a winning team . With those conditions I,m thinking Toronto isn't high on his list . I,m hoping the Nats anti up and grab him so the O,s don't get him .
  19. Have you run the numbers using zips projections . I just find the 85 wins #seeming to be on the high end .
  20. Signing both Drew and Jiminez gives the Jays a shot . Question what was the Soft cap s*** all about ??? Posturing ? Get Both and a healthy Morrow and Melky performing to expectations and the jays just may surprise .
  21. Canadian Oil Companies love a low dollar . They pay their expenses in CAD and sell their product in US . The Jays are the exact opposite . Since I suspect each division of Rogers is run on it,s own merits then stating that the Jays are only 1 % of Rogers doesn't affect this. Most agree the jays will have hedged at around 96 cents . Hopefully they hedged most of this years budget . Like a lot of posters I think this affects next years budget more than this year with the $ expected to remain low for 2015 . I seriously doubt Rogers or the Jays have hedged any for 2015 ? so at the current rate that would cost then 10.72 % making 135 mil US about 149 CAD.
  22. Thx for posting that . I was a huge Expos fan . Alas the City just didn't support the team enough and when Loria got his hands on it we were doomed . I will definitely read this .
  23. I personally think this is one of the causes of the soft cap after hearing all the s*** about the 150 . Still lots to look forward to this year . I'm going to enjoy the season since I have less expectations than most . The Buffalo rotation and even Lansing,s excites me . Also it isn't that this team lacks talent . I don't buy into the Steamer s*** about an 85 win team I do think if everything goes right , we stay healthy and get real lucky on one of the many 5th starters we have suddenly finding it we can surprise people . Winning games in April and May can generate a lot if interest Would love to see what the Zips projections say .
  24. Costs money to hedge . At what $$ amt did they hedge at and did they hedge the whole budget ? This may not effect this year that much but Next year could get ugly if the $ drops to 85 cents . This is ECJF line of work . Can you weigh in on this East ?
  25. The one way the jays have of limiting innings at AAA would be to go with 6 starters . Baring injuries they have 7 in Hutch, Drabek , Stroman , McGuire , Jenkins , Nolin and Walden . which while not good for some would work for the 3 they want to limit innings so we have pitchers in Sept.
