How about 40 million a year for 12 years but with mutual options every 2 years -
what's the difference between working out a lot using basic supplements like creatine, protein powder and vitamins, and taking steroids? How come one group of performance enhancers are allowed but another group is not? I have never understood this. Is it just because steroids have more risk so some people don't want to take them? Why not just legalize steroids (and hgh)? It would be a lot more fair that way since at least everyone would have the option of taking them if they wanted and we wouldn't have a small group of cheaters who are actually getting an unfair upper hand over everyone else

In Alvarez's age 20 season he posted a 102 wRC+ in high A. In Vladdy's age 20 season he posted a 105 wRC+ in the MLB. Let's give our boy some time to keep developing. His bat will come around

Amazing that some people here believe the Jays to be in this same situation. If we keep "rebuilding" for the next 3-5 years then we will not have Vlad and Bo for any substantial amount of time during the next window. The time is now to move into the next gear

we're not rebuilding any more. We have been rebuilt. The core is here. It's time to SPEND (not that I would advocate giving more than like 11M to Edwin)

I wouldnt have a problem with it if it brought back a top prospect. That would actually be a pretty funny timeline. Especially if hector Perez ever becomes anything

Do we really need Dominican summer league Rookie Rookie+ (or whatever you call bluefield) Short season a Regular a High a Double a Triple a Most players are in the minors for 3 or for years so we should have 3 or 4 levels

I am sure Shapiro isn't out there making deals and also I am sure he almost always rubber stamps Ross's deals, but it's pretty obvious that the overall vision is created by Shapiro. He says stuff about sustainability and pipelines of talent then Ross parrots it a few days later. A president doesn't need to worry about every little move as long as the direction is correct. I think that's why we're seeing a trend from business types in the president role (like Beeston) to baseball types in that role (like Shapiro). Because the big long term baseball decisions have to be made by someone who knows about baseball and the deals themselves aren't as important as the actual direction. Shapiro's skills should have him well above working the phones and negotiating trades - He just needs to build the vision and hire people to turn the crank for him

I think there are legit reasons to pick just about any of the 8 teams today tbh: Rays: backs against the wall at home with their best pitcher Astros: best team in baseball against a clear 2nd tier wildcard team with their 3rd ace on the mound Twins: At home with their good offence against Severino who might still be in spring training form Yankees: They just outclass the twins, if Severino is not terrible they should outslug them Nats: Strasburg and Scherzer will probably pitch a combined perfect game Dodgers: Probably the weakest pick of the day, but you can't sleep on that offence and Rich Hill could always pitch a gem Braves: Dallas Keuchel on short rest is not encouraging to me at all. Maybe this is the weakest pick of the day actually Cards: I have watched the whole series and still don't even know who is on the team. Can Goldschmidt carry them??
