  1. Didn't see this posted yet: Meet the Inspiration behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Sr. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6okMS18fQCg
  2. the only thing that matters is if he's on a 40man roster at the end of the season (I forget when the exact cut off date is) If he has enough time as a professional (we know he does) and he's not on a 40 man roster on the cutoff date then he is eligible for the draft regardless of what has happened in the past
  3. No reason why he wouldn't be eligible once again if we didnt put him on the 40 man
  4. Probably pulled his back reaching for that grounder in front of bo earlier
  5. he looks like a totally different pitcher as a 17 year old. How does someone get so much worse over 5 years that they should be improving..?
  6. Vladdys got a massive weakness to the low and outside breaking ball. Just can't lay off it with 2 strikes. Hopefully he tightens up that part of his game. Pillar never managed to do it in like 8 seasons but vladdy is a much better hitter so hopefully he will be fine
  7. Well hes putting himself back into the discussion at least. Theres not a ton of room for him now but if he keeps it up through august then I would expect the team to pretty much give Smoak the Russel Martin treatment this september and allow Rowdy to start basically every game at first so we can get a better look at him
  8. why not? still need to do the getaway day thing so teams don't land in the next city at 6am
  9. ya the position players are super exciting for sure. There's just literally no pitching (we can see why Atkins went out and got like 8 pitchers this deadline)
  10. This is a decent assessment. The overall direction is great. The execution leaves a bit to be desired
  11. We may never win another game this whole season. Ken Giles might as well just be the opener 3 games a week cuz he's never going to have a save situation again
  12. We still paying the baseball gods back for Donaldson
  13. We flipped a prospect for someone who is actually closer to helping the team, which leads me to believe Shatkins is trying to win next year and the year after more than we think - possibly to avoid getting themselves canned
  14. every single trade (even this bizzare trade for Fisher) got us more projected wins for 2021+ than the pieces we gave up
  15. guess that closes the book on this deadline. Pretty disappointing day. In the end we got some good value for guys who weren't part of the big picture. Giles remains an enigma.. still a chance we get some actually good prospect for him in the offseason if he continues to light it up for the next two months
  16. Because he's a super boring speed first guy without a hit tool and actually can't play CF very well according to all reports.
  17. Giles officially not traded. That's super disappointing. I guess that injury completely tanked his value
  18. https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa3004571&position=P We got a 23 year old in high A, looks like another potential starter. He's finally having a good year now that he's got the walks down and strikeouts up in his second go around at high A Johnston features a 3-pitch repertoire of a 91-95mph fastball, a low-80s slider, plus a mid-80s changeup with movement.
  19. this seems like a really good deal for a guy I barely even knew was on our team. Another guy with potential to start. Atkins really picking up a lot of pitching
  20. It's a great deal for sure, it's exactly what we needed. There's a crazy amount of groupthink going on here. This return is pretty much exactly right on the money what most people were hoping to get - two top prospects. Does it matter if they aren't in BA top 100 right this second? One was on that list a month ago and the other will be on it in two months. Regarding Stroman, money talks. As soon as he sees he isn't getting a 150M/5yr deal he will be willing to listen to the more sensible 70M/4yr deal (or whatever it is) that Atkins offers him if that's the best deal he can get.
  21. For real though. The entire internet and media is in shambles because we didn't get a guy who is on a public top 100 list. Who honestly gives a s***? Look at it objectively and we got a great deal - two controllable pitchers, one of them with absolutely huge upside, and Kay fits in well with the group of Thornton, Borucki, Pannone, and Waguspack... between those 5 guys one is going to have some kind of success over the next year and a half. SWR fits in well with the Manoah, Pearson, Pardinho group of future studs. We actually have a pipeline of talent now! And it's not like re-signing Stroman after next season is off the table either.
  22. Sure but that's a pretty minuscule possibility. Most likely (99.9999% probability) situation is that he doesn't retire if he's still with the Jays because he wants his 20 million dollars
  23. that was Patrick Murphy not Merryweather
