Would you rather have a player that puts up a 74 HR season with a .225/.280 (Average/OBP) or have a player put up 50 HR with a .300/.400? On one hand you have the excitement of a player breaking the HR record, but on the other you have a player that puts up an amazing year with the bat and would no doubt produce a higher WAR and be more valuable to the team. This hypothetical player is a career org guy, that puts up a 1 year wonder type thing, after his amazing year he's back to his AAAA type ways.
