  1. They're looking at the Rays Home/Away record. 50-28 at Home, 33-39 Away. Add in the fact we never play good in the Trop. I'd rather take our chances at home. This would also line up Manoah to pitch 2 games in the divisional round against a much tougher Astros team.
  2. This. If it's that important to Judge let him pay for it. I'd sell to whoever was offering the most money, maybe offer Judge last right of refusal. I've seen estimates that put the value of it around $100,000 to $150,000. $100,000 is less than what Judge was paid to play that one game. I wonder if these fans that catch special balls are highly pressured into giving it back. And are told something like "We'll make it worth you while". Then after giving the ball up, they're given a shirtsey or whatever.
  3. Griffin and Gage are pretty much a wash. Griffin throws a bit harder, and he has the ability to go multiple innings. They might just wanna give him a look.
  4. He's seeing Manoah's success and modeling himself off him. Worth a shot if it helps him stay healthy.
  5. Great, Pearson is gonna get Malaria down there and miss most of 2023.
  6. Weren't they in on Freeman? Maybe they have some kind of sciency thing that tells them Ohtani would be worth it to them. Maybe the Rays could also use him in a play to force a team move. It would look bad on the MLB to have their potential top asset playing in front of sub-10,000 crowds.
  7. They should be trading him this offseason, it's the only thing that makes sense for them. A blurb from the end of last year; “I really like the team. I love the fans. I love the atmosphere of the team,” Ohtani said via an interpreter. “But, more than that, I want to win. That’s the biggest thing for me. I’ll leave it at that.” That doesn't sound like a player that would be willing to stay with the Angels as they are right now at this moment.
  8. Wonder if the Rays sign him next offseason after the Angels finish with a <.500 win % and let him walk for nothing.
  9. I agree the extra roster spot is worth more to a team that is smart to use it correctly, but we're talking about the Angels at this point in time. I don't think potential value should be considered for award voting. That'd be kinda like giving a Rockies pitcher the CY Young, even if all his stats are slightly worse than some other pitcher, because of the environment they're playing in.
  10. The Angels got negative WAR out of the player they added to the roster, does that mean we should subtract that amount from Ohtani's total? I think having the extra roster spot is worth more in fantasy baseball than real life.
  11. Judge deserves it. If Ohtani wins it's based on narrative, just because he can hit and pitch doesn't mean he should be guaranteed MVP each season. Judge has almost 2 WAR up on him. He's is putting up the best hitting season in the MLB since Bonds retired.
  12. What is this non-roided HR record? Steroids were out when Roger Maris hit his 61.
  13. Tellez is the slowest position player in the MLB outside of catchers. And the only DH's that are slower than him are Pujols and Miggy.
  14. This is a setting you can turn on in Fantrax.
  15. He's 26th in Defensive Runs Saved this season for OFers. He's better in RF than CF right now.
  16. Do we need to pick our keepers or something?
  17. Bbdl isn't a real league, and doesn't the LOD have an asterisk attached to it?
  18. I was getting worried going into Sunday. Abom and I were tied at 7-7, with him holding the tie breaker.
  19. Moreno should still be getting everyday at bats. It's not like he is tearing the cover off the ball either. He has an OPS under .800 in the minors, and struggled when he was called up earlier this season.
  20. So you'd rather have a spot starter face the O's, who we're directly competing with for a playoff spot, instead of having one face the worst hitting team in the league?
  21. Smart play is to have Lawrence pitch against the Pirates, they have the 2nd worst offense in the league. That way we have 4 of our main starters for the Baltimore series.
  22. Which of Pop or Moreno are going to start the extra game?
  23. They had an open spot at that time.
  24. What's the rule for September though? Nevermind, 29. Maybe they're gonna throw him against Pittsburg instead of the O's. That's personally what I would do. Either the 2 or 3rd game. That would ensure none of our main starter would be throwing on 3 days rest.
