  1. Brantley would fill essentially fill Tapia's role. He's above those 3 in my opinion, and consistently puts up a .360-.370 OBP.
  2. I wonder what Michael Brantley will fetch this offseason. Not for CF, but for a 4th OFer/DH. He's a guy I'd be comfortable giving an everyday role too if Gurriel/Springer miss significant time. He's coming off shoulder surgery, so might be cheap, power was never really his thing anyway.
  3. I'd do Moreno if one of their young pitching prospects were coming back with Thomas.
  4. I'd be game for a Jansen for Alek Thomas deal. He's not the flashy move for CF but he has a good floor, and lots of team control. I can see him as a slightly better version of Kevin Pillar. We don't need sluggers at every position, sure it'd be nice, but I think a great glove with speed in CF would work.
  5. Sounds like Macko is fairly sought after. Baseball America’s scouting report on Macko notes that he was one of the Mariners’ most sought-after targets in recent trade talks. He's a lefty with a plus-plus curve (70 grade), and hits 98mph on his fastball.
  6. One important thing that is being overlooked is that Macko is Canadian. Anytime we can add a player from Canada to the team, you do it, no matter the cost.
  7. I agree, it's a win. The casual fans will hate it. "We traded our cleanup hitter for a relief pitcher and some minor leaguer"
  8. The only big FA signing is going to be Carlos Correa, after we trade Bichette for Acuna.
  9. And including a top 10 prospect.
  10. I was thinking the same thing, O's over Yankees. But thought it sounded silly. They seemed to follow the Astros gameplan of scorched earth. They have next to 0 payroll commitments moving forward, and used to be a top 10 payroll team. I would not be surprised in the least to see them sign a couple top tier free agents.
  11. I like this trade, there are a lot of positives to it. We get a high leverage reliever, who can slot right into a setup slot and has plenty of control left. So far this offseason good relievers have been getting paid big time. Swanson has a super sexy statcast page. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/erik-swanson-657024?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb Macko is the Mariners 8th ranked prospect on fangraphs, he'll probably slot in top 10 for us as well. He's way more than your low level lottery ticket. Teoscar will be getting about 15 million next year, if they go out and sign a CFer and put that money towards the signing it'll be fine. This allows Springer to move into RF.
  12. Unfortunately for us it's looking like he's the new Buster Posey. wRC+ for Posey was 134, for Rut is was 133. Posey had 4 WAR in 108 games, Rut had 5.3 in 113. The O's are on the rise and will be playoff contenders for the foreseeable future.
  13. So the O's should have put Rutschman on the major league IL, the games he played in the minors amounted to pretty much a rehab stint.
  14. He also got hit around quite a bit. I don't think his K-rate translates, and seems like the Jays don't either. His only swing and miss pitch is a changeup that works like a screw ball. It works in the minors because there's not tons of scouting video, he'd get killed in the majors. Seems like even the minor leaguers caught on, the last 2 months of the season he put up a 7.23 ERA.
  15. This was my thought. He'll be cheap and is a perfect bench player. I'd actually like to see the Jays try him out in CF. Just to add another position he can cover incase of injury. He needs to hit the gym this offseason though and add some strength to his body.
  16. Jake Cronenworth
  17. Maybe the Jays had Senga in the back of their mind when signing Kikuchi. I would think it'd help a bit having a Japanese player on the roster when trying to attract these guys from the NPB. I see the Cubs are also in the running, they have Suzuki, who has the same agents as Senga.
  18. The last time Anderson was good Brad Hand was good. And some people took a crying fit when we gave up a dime a dozen AAAA catcher for him.
  19. Gibbons was in a similar situation. He was poor his first go around with the Jays, we were all excited to see him fired. He signed elsewhere as a bench coach, and then when he returned to being a manager he had improved.
  20. You mean like Matthews and Marner?
  21. At what price point and term would you feel comfortable at signing Teoscar to a long term deal? Assuming he loves it here, believes in the team and wants to be a part of it all. 5/80M starting in 2023, with a NTC? 2023-27 could look something like 20-20-15-15-10.
  22. I imagine some players will be told by their manager that they're not allowed to challenge. Wonder what managers will do with their good hitters that think every call on the edge of the plate should be a ball. I can see a blame game happening. You have a cocky starting pitcher that blows all three challenges by the 5th inning. That leaves the hitters high and dry and vulnerable to bad calls in the later innings.
  23. I didn't know a reliever with a 4.76 ERA was one of the best. But hey, as long as he can get those K's and Saves right.
  24. So you want to trade Kirk and Martinez for a pitching prospect who's projected for the bullpen, a AAAA pinch hitter, and a 32 year old middle reliever.
  25. Why do people want Rogers? He's not all that great. He's guaranteed to be over paid because he's a save collector. Give me Adam Ottavino. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/adam-ottavino-493603?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
