  1. I wonder what the Jays do when/if Ryu comes back. There are a lot of ifs, like if Manoah is somewhat fixed, and if everyone is healthy. Do they go with a 6 man rotation? Or move Kikuchi to the bullpen and use him as a shutdown RP? He had a ridiculous K% out of the BP last year.
  2. Looks like we have about $1,170,285 left to sign the other 3 in the top 10, this includes the 5% over. Their slot totals are $1,132,300.
  3. Moreno already stated he wasn't going to trade him to the Dodgers.
  4. I wonder what Manoah we'll see tonight. His velocity in his last start still wasn't back up to where it should be.
  5. Going by WAR, Berrios is a low tier #1. He's returned to his career norms, so should be a good #2 going forward. It's looking like last year was just one of those years. I'd call Bassit is a high variance #3.
  6. They don’t wanna sweep and make the D-backs feel bad.
  7. Berkman had a higher career wRC+, OPS, WAR. And he fell off the ballot. He didn’t quite have the counting stats, but because of health. It’s a lot easier to stay healthy when all ya do is swing a bat and sit on the bench. How many pulled groins would Ortiz have had even playing 1B, never mind OF.
  8. Lance Berkman is as good as Ortiz. How did he do in the voting?
  9. Speed isn't quite as important at 3B, you need arm strength to play 3B. That's why Biggio couldn't stick there. But he can play 1B.
  10. Picking and scooping is a skill any mlb player could learn in 1 spring training. Most other infielders could probably do it better, after a short training session. They have better hands.
  11. Christian Walker is probably a good example. He's almost good enough to beat the handicap, one of the current best at 1B. But he'd probably be nearing the bottom of any other position since he's slow as f*** and throws like a little girl.
  12. I think you two would make a cute couple.
  13. Keith Law had our guy ranked 8th overall. Highest I’ve seen him on lists were 6th. Law Report - Nimmala is one of the youngest players in the entire draft class, certainly the youngest on my Big Board, as he won’t turn 18 until November, which will appeal to all the teams that value age in their draft models. But he’s also very talented and would still be a first-rounder even if he were 18 already. Nimmala is a lean 6-1 and already shows above-average power with a strong swing that makes excellent use of his hips to generate that contact quality. He’s a rangy shortstop with good hands and an easy plus arm, and although he’s probably just an average runner in the end, he’s certain to stay at the position long term. Where he falls short of the high school hitters above him is in his present hit tool, as he’s shown more propensity to swing and miss than his peers but seems to hit velocity fine. If he didn’t have that, he’d be in that uppermost tier of players, since he’d have the hit tool, power and defense at a critical position. Instead, he offers the potential for that sort of player with a slightly longer timeframe and greater risk around his ability to hit when he enters pro ball.
  14. I was starting to wonder why I haven't heard his name mentioned in a while.
  15. It's the right move. But instead they'll probably try buying some scrubs.
  16. He'll return to those ways after getting a multi year deal this offseason.
  17. I think this was from when he was with Montreal. I had seen in another another interview, possibly before going to Montreal, saying it's terrible and it's rough spending 1 night in the city.
  18. Lance Lynn would be gross. Who would he replace in the rotation, assuming Manoah makes his way back? Ryu might be an option as well.
  19. I've made the playoffs the past 7 years in a row just from being active. Hoping to make it 8, but I've slightly neglected my roster this year, been concentrating more on the LOD.
  20. No team has that this season.
  21. It's hard to find a comparable to Orelvis. He was 20 years old, and hit 30HRs in AA last year. Looking of Fangraphs; there hasn't been anyone 21 or younger that has hit 30 for as far as they'll let me go back (2006) in AA.
  22. It sounds like he has an important role already from the time of his hiring. It didn't seem like he made any significant moves while running the Astros. Possible he's great at coming up with strategies and computer stuff, but he has trouble executing a plan.
  23. I put it at 50/50 that his son ever actually joined. How do we know he even has a son and that it's not all something made up by his schizo mind.
  24. For anyone that missed out on Nola and needs some SP, hit me up for Verlander.
  25. I'd bet on a career year for Vlad just before he hits free agency.
