  1. He's acting like he's prime Manny Ramirez.
  2. Jays are 37-36 in games Espinal plays. 35-25(95 win pace) in games they keep his ass on the bench.
  3. Does Vlad feel he's good enough he doesn't have to run?
  4. I hope they'd put Schneider at 3B. Unless their love for Espinal is too strong and for some reason they feel he has to 100% be in the lineup.
  5. It'd be nice to pick up Hunter Renfroe. So there's no need to start Merrifield in the OF and he can be full time 2B.
  6. Sign Schneider to a long term contract 10 years?
  7. Varsho should be starting over Espinal. Even against lefties. Whoever is deciding he starts should be fired.
  8. I wonder what the first 3 would have to slash in September to bring their season numbers up to their pre-season projections.
  9. No way he re-signs with the Angels. He wants to win, he's outta there even if they offer the most money.
  10. I'd rather have Kirk start at SS than Espinal.
  11. Espinal has 5 multi hit games this year in 72 games played. Schneider got to 5 in in his 11th game.
  12. If Bo misses more games they have to go with Clement, right? He's been a top 30 bat in AAA this year and has continued to hit in the majors. There is no sound reasoning to start Espinal over him.
  13. Clement is at SS tonight. Schneider at 3B. Whit at 2B.
  14. Looks like he's batting cleanup tonight.
  15. Should call up Barger and hope for some lightening in a bottle, he has a .930 OPS over the past month. We've already seen it happen for Schneider with his call up. There is no excuse for running Espinal out there as a starter.
  16. And Swanson gives up the HR.
  17. I would do that deal in an instant.
  18. Sounds like it's for longterm developmental reasons. “We think there’s a benefit of playing against advanced competition and catching advanced pitchers and this is a group that will have chance to play together down the stretch and into the Double-A playoffs.”
  19. Gave up the cycle to add another double instead. While being up 11-1
  20. I think this season will be Manoah's wake up call. I expect he'll look different next spring training.
  21. I find it crazy that all teams aren't doing this. It might also provide an advantage when drafting HS guys late in the draft. Signing bonuses are capped, but if teams are willing to provide great resources to their minor league guys it might sway them to sign instead of going to college.
  22. They only just changed their age of consent up to 16 from 13 this Summer from all the flak they were receiving on it.
  23. I think Merrifield gets close to $15 on a multi year deal. He'll pass 3 WAR, and has been consistent. A lot of the guys you mentioned have some negative WAR years. Turner is a close comparable, age/history wise, he went into FA with a 2.4 WAR year. He ended up with what more realistically is a 1 year 16M contract. He has player option for 13.4M or can take a 6.7M buyout. Unless he suffers an injury between now and the end of season he probably opts out. I'm on the fence on offering Merrifield a QO.
  24. I don't like this from a baseball fan standpoint. But I'm happy that the Rays take a substantial hit. Franco will be able to join Bauer over in Japan and have a very good career.
