Manoah has to want to do it though; the team can't force him to. Most signs point to him feeling like he doesn't have to change anything and he's perfect the way he is. It sounds like he's trying to play the injury card, he went off on his own and got some injections into his arm. -

That happened this year though? Our co-ace turned to s*** and pretty much missed the year/ under performed.

Schneider sometimes gets too caught up with R/L matchups at times it seems. I guess it makes sense now why Walker seemed kinda pissed just before Berrios was pulled. I bet he tried talking some sense into Schneider.

I think Atkins gets another year. It's hard to hate his process and thinking. It just ended up being an undesirable outcome. We had the highest wRC+ in the AL last year(2022). Our downfall was pitching and defense, he made moves to improve both. The hitting he moved Hernández(130 wRC+) and Gurriel Jr.(115) he replaced with Belt(138) and Kiermaier(104). We should have in theory had very similar runs scored in 2023 to 2022. Unfortunately Bo, Vladdy, Springer, Chapman, Kirk, and Jansen all declined at the same time. And when the trade deadline came around there weren't any bats available that would have helped us. We improved on our weaknesses in 2023. We went from 8th in DRS to 1st. In pitching we went from 11th in WAR to 5th; if Manoah was even decent we probably end up 2nd. Now we have to hope Atkins has a plan to improve our hitting, he can't go into next season expecting bounce backs from all of the 6 that declined this year. History shows he's been able to address our weaknesses.

Who/where do they come up with these estimates? Guerrero Jr's is interesting. You could debate that he shouldn't get a raise at all considering his stats for last year.

Whatever Eppler did must have been super sketchy. Every team does this and MLB doesn't bother doing anything.

You keep bringing up the Dickey scenario. It's not exactly the same thing. Dickey had given up a run already, had thrown more pitches, and was a knuckleballer that was about to go through the order for a 3rd time.

It was probably decided before the game to pull Berrios at that spot. I still blame Schneider though, is the front office calling the dugout during the game to direct Schneider. There must have been an abort button on this game plan if needed. If Berrios was throwing a perfect game up to that point do they still pull him?
