When you suggest other FA names, Jays don't have the money to sign them. Though when you suggest names that could come cheap and who you might get some value out of, they suck and the Jays shouldn't sign them. So then who do the Jays sign?
Sure, I want the Jays to sign a better arm than Griffin Canning lol, but if payroll is tight and they need to spend money in other areas such as the lineup or bullpen, leaves very little for the rotation.
If someone in the Jays rotation gets injured, who is next in line? Depth is important as well. If Canning didn't pan out, you either DFA him after 5 or 6 starts or move him to the pen. Who knows, maybe out of the pen he becomes the next Luke Weaver.
