Anyone going to the game tonight?
  3. What about Karns? Don't you think he'd be ahead of Colome on the depth charts?
  4. I don't think starting pitching was an issue with them last season - they had Price for the entire first half and more, Cobb made 27 starts, Archer 32 starts, Odorizzi 31 starts. Sure they didn't have Matt Moore for the entire season, though their pitching was solid enough without him still and its not like Moore would have been one of their top starters anyways.
  5. Longoria and Zobrist are a great core of talent - not sold on Jennings (looks like he will never live up to the hype he was given a couple of years ago) and Myers looks like he can be a disappointment as well. As for the rest of their squad - they have no catcher, no shortstop, a slap hitting first baseman, Franklin at 2B possibly, weak corner OF's - they are not in that great shape as many think they are. The pitching is fantastic yes, though for them to sniff the postseason next year, they'll need Myers and Jennings to really step it up.
  6. Their lineup was awful last season - Longoria didn't produce as he should, Zobrist was injured for parts of the season, Jennings and Myers were huge disappointments offensively. They have a lot of holes in that lineup.
  7. Rotation: Cobb Moore Archer Odorizzi Smyly Depth: Karns, Colome, Romero, Montgomery Who really needed Hellickson? Rays have plenty of good young arms already.
  8. So good deal for the Rays?
  9. Meh, Burnett was still pretty darn good with the Pirates in 2012. Remember he had Martin as a catcher with the Yankees in 2011 and he was pretty bad. I think he'll be fine with the Pirates again - he looked really comfortable there.
  10. Love the Pirates signing of AJ Burnett. $8.5 M is a bargain.
  11. Manny didn't break down into his 30's - still one of the most dangerous threats.

Are you going to the game?
  13. I'd rather sign Martin to a similar contract over what Melky is asking, agreed. The fact Martin is from East York is a terrific PR move. I'm sure there is more competition for Martin however.
  14. Geez why did you get thanks for that comment when mine was better!
  15. Yeah I'd rather give Cruz $50 M to DH rather than Melky $50 M to play an awful LF.
  16. lol, but yeah in terms of what AA and Beeston have said about not going more than 5 years on FA's, then Melky is the type of bat I could see them resigning based on those very reasons. We've seen AA before lock up guys like Bautista, and EE since they had success here and were great fits for the organization. Not saying Melky is on those levels as a player obviously, though I could see the Jays willing to go that extra mile on Melky since they are familiar with him and probably think he's a great fit with their current core. Whether its the best baseball decision or not, I'm sure they'd rather resign Melky over another FA outfielder at just a slightly cheaper rate and who might not be as good. I'm sure resigning Melky would be more of a PR play then anything - to show fans the Jays are willing to keep their good players etc.
  17. I don't think years will be an issue with Melky. Won't demand anything more than 4-5 years so he fits the Blue Jays policy of signing free agents. The Blue Jays made him a decent offer and if Melky said he'd consider a hometown discount to stay in Toronto, then $39 M vs. $45 M shouldn't be a huge deterrent. Not sure he'd get $50 M - risky play there. What the Blue Jays offered was fair - even include some club options + performance bonuses if they have to sway him.
  18. Yeah pretty ironic. I guess since Miguel Cabrera didn't get those RBI's, Trout had the advantage!
  19. This should have been his third MVP but oh well. It's about time!
  20. I agree with Spanky's analysis for once!

  22. Yeah I like the trade as well but reading some posts on here it sounds like AA just traded for an all-star second baseman lol. It's nice how AA brought in someone who could compete at 2B, though lets not get out of hand here.
  23. Long day downtown, only running on like 4 hours of sleep today. Made the change, thanks!
  24. Was his girlfriend heavily under the influence of alcohol as well? If she wasn't, then she should have used her common sense and not get in the car and prevent OT from even driving.
