  1. Jays winning the division! You can take that to the bank!
  2. If the Jays could somehow land an elite SP before the trade deadline, look out! If the price is too high and if options are limited, just stock up on high K% bullpen arms because they're going to need them if their starters only go 4-5 innings in a short series.
  3. Given the team's position even before Sale's injury, not a smart thing for AA to say. Unless he was just saying that for the cameras. As well, saying Sale is on the table out in public kind of sends a message of conceding to the rest of the team in early June. You would think they would entertain offers on Sale if he was healthy at the July 31st trade deadline if the Braves were still 11 GB like they are today. Otherwise if AA was true to his word, then yeah strongly disagree.
  4. LOL it didn't trigger me at all. Sale's injury had nothing to do with his arm and he was on pace for around 180 or so innings again this season with elite numbers. Morton's previous seasons were still very solid and he was consistent from 2021-2024, so it's not like he was a one-hit wonder or fluke last season, but yeah the Braves let go of him at the right time. He's 41, so at anytime he can just implode and he did this season with the Orioles lol. Lopez is pretty much the only one who I'll acknowledge they got lucky with last season. Otherwise for you to say "you saw this coming" and that the "baseball gods evened it out this year" is ridiculous.
  5. It's okay, for today's GDT you can post it :P
  6. Braves pretty much should wave the white flag on their season. Too bad Chris Sale had a freak injury. He could have netted them a haul.
  7. Chris Sale had a freak injury that had nothing to do with pitching. Max Fried left as a FA. They got Spencer Strider back this season and he's starting to round into form. Spencer Schwellenbach is a legit arm. Sucks he got injured and is going to miss a lot of time now. AJ Smith-Shawver only made 1 start last season and sucks about getting TJS this season, but that happens with a lot of young arms. Grant Holmes pitched in long relief last season and this season has been a decent arm in their rotation. Really the only guy they got lucky with last season was Reynaldo Lopez. I wouldn't say they got "really lucky" with their rotation last year other than with Lopez.
  8. If the Jays sweep the Yankees over these 4 games, that's a huge statement! They will take the AL East Division!

    NHL Thread

During the regular season, sure he'll be missed. During the NHL Playoffs, not so much.
  10. Yeah unless Santander is out for the rest of the season, doesn't make sense acquiring Ozuna since Santander/Springer and Kirk will all need to rotate through the DH spot.
  11. Didn't he come to Canada during the Braves/Blue Jays series in April at the Rogers Centre? 😅
  12. I'm a rationalist. As much as I would love Santander to give us two months of crushing baseballs, that reality is unlikely. He hasn't been able to resume swinging yet, and he might not be completely 100% even when he returns. Seems like he's banged up and this shoulder injury could be something that lingers all season, even when he gets back. At the end of the day, his numbers by the end of the season won't be anywhere close to his 2023 and 2024 season, so yeah this season in terms of his overall contract is a write-off vs, what was expected.
  13. Yeah wouldn't surprise me if they option Fluharty once Yimi is activated instead of DFA'ing Green. Fluharty has options and it might be a good idea to go back down to gain some confidence again.
  14. AL MVP: Judge or Raleigh?
  15. Watching in the comfort of my own home on my 77" OLED television with surround sound and mini-fridge stocked with cold Mill St. Organic and Asahi beer. Stopped raining, so going to go outside on my patio and enjoy a whiskey & cigar after the Jays win!
  16. Yeah Bo is unlikely to be traded given the Jays being in contention lol, though interesting to think of some possible trade ideas. The emergence of Ernie Clement and Addison Barger has definitely changed things regarding the Jays infield.
  17. Yeah good comp and benchmark. Might even get more.
  18. Yankees placed Fernando Cruz on the IL. He's been a big piece in their bullpen this season.
  19. That's unfortunate. Might have to just write-off Santander for this season and hope he comes back healthy and smashing in 2026. If that's the case, would be looking for another bat whether it's a corner OF or DH with some pop at the trade deadline.
  20. Bo has no control either lol, so why would another team trade a SP with control for 2 months of Bo. I was just throwing an idea out there mentioning the Brewers as really the only logical fit, since they're contending, need an upgrade at SS and have some elite SP options who they can possibly move given that Freddy Peralta only has 1.5 years left and Woodruff can possibly become a FA after 2025 (unless he accepts a mutual option) and are likely to resign either of them, especially Peralta.
  21. Brewers could use an upgrade offensively at short and have enough pitching to make a trade. Likely would have to add more with Bo to get Peralta, but Woodruff is expected back soon and could probably be had in a 1:1 swap. If Woodruff is healthy and in elite form, would you trade two months of Bo for two months of Woodruff? I would.
  22. Depends on what you can get for Bo and if the Jays FO knows there is no chance at re-signing him to an extension. I would be fine with an infield with Clement at SS and Barger at 3B down the stretch. Though Gimenez is pretty much your guy at second base. As well, Jays would need to add another bat elsewhere especially if they removed Bo from their lineup. Wonder if there could be a good challenge trade out there where the Jays swap Bo for let's say a top arm who also is on an expiring contract or one year left.
