Missing the days of Brandon League as well. Blue Jays had some electric arms that disappointed. Even was hoping McGowan out of the BP could have been a fixture. -
Didn't everyone on here love the Sergio Santos trade haha. He was dominant in 2013 in a small sample size. Overall, was a big let down after so many posters on here including myself had really high hopes.

The bullpen isn't a lights out bullpen. It seems like it was patched together with a bunch of middle tier arms. I still think Romano is and will be a solid closer, and Mayza looks like he'll be a solid LHP for them, but the rest are meh. Gotta hope Nate Pearson steps in and can be an elite setup guy right out of the gate. As for the bench, it's awful. I wish the Jays did keep a LHB with some pop around to use a DH occasionally. So many were available and the Jays even had Tellez. Issue is when the Jays lose a starting player or two to the IL, the Jays can't be placing guys like Tapia, Zimmer etc., in the lineup everyday. Seems like the Jays this offseason were more focused on shaping up the starting nine and rotation, and never gave attention to the end of the roster like the bench and bullpen.

Imagine some posters going through the days when the Blue Jays had Miguel Batista and Kevin Gregg closing out games. They would be having heart attacks every save opportunity.

It's still early agreed, but would suck in September if the Jays miss out on the division or wildcard by one game, because of games in May like this. Against division rivals, gotta win this game when numbers heavily in your favour!

Cleveland isn't that bad of a city as its made out to be. It's no Toronto yes haha, but it's the team he's known since he was a young player, better ballpark, he doesn't have to cross the border every time and it's a good sports town. Not sure if he lives in Cleveland all year long haha but yeah he still could have demanded more money for sure. Cleveland got lucky! -
Great to see Verlander back to his old self! First ballot Hall of Famer for sure. You won't see him arms like him anymore. Enjoy watching guys like Verlander, Scherzer, and Wainwright while you can.

I would have said earlier, maybe a shorter spring training might have contributed to the downturn in offensive numbers, though that would have been maybe for the first two or three weeks of the season.

I still have that sample bottle from the game haha. The Jays had awesome promos in 2005 and 2006. Whoever was in charge of marketing back then was hilarious! -

I like this lineup better now. Tapia batting ninth where he should haha. Blue Jays need to strengthen their bench badly.

Sometimes its best to target failed starters in their late 20's/early 30's, transition them to the bullpen and see what happens. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Scott Downs is the perfect example. The Jays got tremendous value out of him from 2007 to 2010. Combined 4.0 WAR over those 4 seasons. Even look at the Jays with Brett Cecil. Failed starter, looked like he was close to being done in the organization, though instead transitioned him to a BP role and did a solid job from 2013-2016 as a late inning reliever.

I hope when DeGrom returns he could still be the elite arm he was, but it's doubtful. Such a shame because he was the best arm in baseball. Mets always have bad luck with their top arms.
