Maybe because it was a Monday night and it was cold and rainy yesterday, which probably limited the amount of walkups.
Also, I do think a tough economic crisis plays a role somewhat. Though people will still spend money they don't have, so I don't think it's the main reason why the Jays didn't have 40K fans. Regardless, going down to a game was always expensive when you factor in transit or parking, food, drinks and tickets as well. Two 100 level infield seats are going to be $200 for a pair, dinner $50+ along with beers at the game which will run you almost $15 per can. Best to sometimes watch a game in the comfort of your own home, with your own food and own beer haha. Even myself, would rather save that money to spend on a Postseason game if I had the choice.
I think the next 2 games against the Yankees will be 40K plus since the Aaron Judge HR chase is all Sportsnet and sports radio shows talked about yesterday.
