  1. Was contemplating taking him. He's old but still very productive especially in assists. Definitely can provide excellent value if he stays healthy and doesn't lose a beat!
  2. Probably for another once top heralded prospect. Kelenic would make sense if both the Mariners/Blue Jays wanted to shake things up. Otherwise, best to just hold onto Pearson and hope you can either transition him to the bullpen or he does at some point figure it out as a starter.
  3. Tapia for World Series MVP!
  4. I wonder why Baltimore is the way it is after all these years? Hmmmm...
  5. Yeah any big market team like New York, Boston, LA, everything is amplified. From a marketing/viewership/ratings perspective, the MLB had a lot to benefit from it so it made sense for them to create that hype whether people thought it was deserved or not. Even if it was another player not named Judge. I'm sure the last two weeks of the season alone, a lot of money was made from Yankees games. Even teams like Toronto and Texas benefited having the Yankees in town that week.
  6. That's good to know. It's a shame when some players don't get the recognition they deserve because of falling short in those categories like RBI and pitcher W-L record etc.
  7. Didn't Manny Ramirez and Yoenis Cespedes get MVP votes those seasons when they got traded at the July 31st deadline? I remember some people in baseball saying Cespedes deserved the 2015 NL MVP after what he did with the Mets in just two months haha. It would suck if someone having a really good season like Justin Verlander or Aaron Judge were traded to the NL and continued to put up monster numbers. The only player/pitcher I could think of who got screwed from an award by being traded in July and switching leagues was CC Sabathia. Definitely would have been a Cy Young winner with those numbers if he stayed in one league. Though his numbers with the Brewers were on a different level.
  8. Yeah Mets don't strike out a lot. Darvish though did have success against them earlier this season. 6 K's over 7IP in his June start and 9 K's over 7IP in his July start, and that likely was with Marte in the lineup as well. All depends on how quickly he gets hooked but he's coming off a brilliant September (NL Pitcher of the Month). But Darvish could be erratic in some instances. Scherzer I agree is the better bet, especially being in the Postseason with Showalter being more of an old school manager. Better to put more money on him. As a same-game parlay, the odds are pretty good for both of them (+280).
  9. Jeffrey Springs, Rowdy Tellez, Josh Naylor, Willy Adames, Kyle Schwarber. I bet someone will vote for Albert Pujols as well for MVP haha. He should win Comeback Player of the Year though.
  10. Will most of the voters even know about xwOBA? haha Freeman definitely has the standings, BA and even SBs (13) that work in his favor. I do think he falls shorts on HR's with only 21 and with RBI however when matching him up with Goldy, something the old school voters will take into account. LA is surrounded by superstars as it is. So while their success in the standings can benefit his case, did St. Louis or even San Diego really have anyone else around Goldy/Arenado and Machado? Some voters will definitely say, if you took one of Arenado or Goldy out of the STL lineup or Machado out of the Padres lineup, their teams don't make or struggle to make the Postseason. I do agree with you how Goldy/Arenado could split their votes. Should be a tight race.
  11. Scherzer 5.5 O/U for K's against the Padres (-120) Darvish 5.5 O/U for K's against the Mets (+110) Take the over on both?
  12. Trade Nate Pearson for him in the offseason.
  13. Yeah Rodon or Nola with higher WAR and K rates. The one downside though is only 178 innings with Rodon vs. Alcantara with close to 230. I think the voters/writers will lean towards him for that reason. Though yeah I agree, Rodon probably was the best pitcher not just in the NL, though across all of baseball. Nola's W-L record will hurt him and his ERA above 3, though he is very deserving as well.
  14. NL Rookie of the Year should be a bigger discussion: Spencer Strider or Michael Harris II? I would lean towards Strider but Harris II being an everyday player and he stepped up big with Acuna pretty much sucking this season.
  15. AL MVP: Aaron Judge AL Cy Young: Justin Verlander AL ROY: Julio Rodríguez NL MVP: Paul Goldschmidt NL Cy Young: Sandy Alcantara NL ROY: tough call between Spencer Strider and Michael Harris II (hope they can co-share it)
  16. It looked like he was well on his way at the end of August, though wonder if his slow September reduces his chances amongst the voters and the fact he plays 1B. Arenado and Machado play 3B which is what they have going for them and also both have higher WARs (7.3 and 7.4) than Goldy. In terms of counting power stats like HRs and RBI, they aren't that far behind Goldy anyways. Goldschmidt though does have a huge advantage in BA/OBP/SLG and wRC+ however. In terms of helping their team make the Postseason, well all of those three guys are in the same boat so that logic is pretty much a wash haha. I think it will be a lot closer now than it was in August. If voters dismiss the poor September Goldy had, then maybe he still holds onto that flame. Otherwise, I think the 1B position versus 3B position could go against him amongst the current voters. Regardless, if I was voting, I probably would still rank Goldy as my No. 1 since he was far superior offensively than any other player in the NL this season.
  17. Oh wow never knew that haha. Weird!
  18. He also got caught with a corked bat that season as well haha.
  19. In a short series, pretty much everything in a game is "magnified" at any point whether in the first inning or ninth inning. Whether it's a strikeout, walk, pitcher leaves a bad pitch hanging over the plate, a home run, an RBI, a defensive play or miscue, a stolen base, baserunning, a catcher blocking the plate etc. Can go on and on.
  20. I emailed OnlyFranz through Yahoo
  21. Hard to disagree with those selections. Would pick those teams to win as well.
  22. Keegan Murray
  23. Will make my pick. Debating on a couple of guys.
  24. MLB needs to authenticate that ball anyways, or else it's not worth millions to an investor. So even if he escaped and left the ballpark, tough to get full value without it authenticated.
  25. Yeah MLB didn't want the games to air in Seattle before noon so that's why the Jays got the 4PM timeslot on Friday and Saturday. Otherwise, if they facing the Rays, would have been 12:07 start times haha.
