  1. I still have it and also have an autographed jersey by him as well. Thanks again man! I gotta wear it to my next Jays game or BJMB meetup haha.
  2. Haha. Towers was sometimes animated on the mound. He always was a gamer. Never was annoying as Manoah or Stroman though. I think even in 2005 at the end of August, he had a beef with Casey Blake. He was saying post-game he should have got Casey Blake out since he was hitting only .200, and Casey Blake responded back after lol. As well, he was one of the few pitchers who beamed A-Rod after what he did. Should have been Brandon League with his 100mph fastball instead of the 88mph Josh Towers fastball haha.
  3. Yeah I wasn't a huge fan of JPR at the time but after looking back, he did have a really tall order in the AL East at the time with both the Yankees and Red Sox dominating and outspending everyone. Revisionist history, he wasn't that bad of a GM. Drafting and player development still was meh though. The Jays never had the payroll they do today and like you said with the wildcard era changing, I'm sure their approach during the offseason and at the deadline would have been different for some of those seasons. Some JPR teams would have made the Postseason IMO.
  4. That 2005 Jays team ended up winning 80 games, after a disastrous 2004. Halladay would have won the Cy again that season. Towers became their ace and actually was great that summer! Chacin was solid as well. Ted Lilly sucked in 2005 haha. Dave Bush was meh. Offensively the team wasn't that great in 2005. Still a fun team to watch though. I went to a lot of games that season at the Dome. Both Cat and Towers were my favourite players. Wonder how many more games they could have won with a healthy Halladay and if Lilly wasn't as bad. The offseason following the 2005 season, JPR made some big splashes. Improved the lineup by acquiring Troy Glaus, Lyle Overbay and Bengie Molina. Sucked they had to trade O-Dog though. Went out and signed BJ Ryan and AJ Burnett, two of the best FA arms that offseason.
  5. Haha yeah. Even in a 20-team dynasty thinking of cutting him loose and picking up Gary Sanchez lol.
  6. Is it time to drop Alejandro Kirk in fantasy?
  7. Mary Brown Chicken is going to have to find a new face!
  8. Romano has been rock solid as a closer from 2021-2023, but like Laika said there have been some warning signs along the way which kind of foreshadow his decline. He's also 31 right now as well. To expect him to keep pitching at those levels and results moving forward...
  9. Remember Miguel Batista as a closer in 2005? His entrance music out of the bullpen was Gangsta's Paradise haha.
  10. Thank you Laika for pointing this out!

    NHL Thread

Suspended 5 days from the BJMB.
  12. LOL give it up man. Where are your pals Brownie, Spanky and EatMyShatkins? They've left you out to dry in this thread lol. Nobody on here said Atkins was the worst GM in baseball. A lot of rational posters acknowledge he has done a lot of a great things, but overall the end results are what matter. This team under him hasn't gone to the next level and as an organization have disappointed with drafting and player development and we're probably at a point now where a new voice/vision is needed to help retool this team moving forward. Enough praising Atkins as some sort of Godly GM. He's been good, but not good enough unfortunately.
  13. The Jays bullpen right now isn't an elite or shutdown BP as it was last season. Going to be tough to win games of 3-2 or 2-1 with the way the bullpen has been going. Romano hasn't looked 100% this season. Swanson same. Green is on the IL (not surprised). The bullpen overall has been one of the worst in baseball in 2024. Very impressed with Yimi Garcia. Has been rock solid this season. Not sure if he could keep up that level all season but let's hope. Hopefully when Rodríguez comes back he's used in the BP and he turns out to be an electric late inning arm for the Jays.
  14. Wonder if something could be done with Vlad or Bo for Jazz? Jazz has an extra year of control I believe and would be a FA for 2027.
  15. Erick Fedde has a 2.60 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 50:14 K:BB through 52 innings with a 3.88 FIP and 0.9 fWAR. White Sox got themselves a nice trade chip if he keeps this up.
  16. He has been really terrible this season, but what about Jake Burger as a possible trade target from the Marlins? Last season he hit 34 HR's with a .250/.309/.518, 120 wRC+ and a 2.3 fWAR. Granted he's been downright terrible this season. The raw power is there, which is what this lineup needs, just gotta hope he could bounce back to being a 2-3 WAR player.
  17. Bieber could have been on that track I think but we'll see if he could stay healthy when he returns. Needs to pitch at an elite level for 6 to 7 years. Others could be Cease, Burnes, and Gallen like Laika mentioned. Maybe Luis Castillo. I would also throw Gausman into the mix. He's a bit older than those names, but has 31.3 career fWAR thus far. If he continues to have a couple more elite 5 WAR seasons, he gets above 50 career WAR. He needs to still pitch well and elite into his late 30's though.
  18. Yeah sorry. Thanks for the correction!
  19. He's been money for the Braves this season. Loved that trade and he's healthy now. Nice gamble by the Braves. 5-1, 10.97 K/9, 1.69 BB/9, 2.95 ERA, 2.62 FIP, 1.2 fWAR and 52 K's in 42.2 innings over 7 starts. Looking great tonight against the Cubs as well.
  20. May 12 Vladdy - 2 Points - Dylan Varsho - 2 Points Bichette - 3 Points - Jonn Schneider- 3 Points - JaysBlue Springer - 4 Points- Omar Vogelbach - 4 Points - mphenhef, Abomination Kirk - 6 Points Kiner-Falefa - 7 Points Clement - 8 Points - wilko The Bench (Any PH): 10 Points - Spanky
  21. Davis Schneider looks exactly like Spencer Strider.
  22. He's not an elite lights-out BP arm agreed. He had one great season in 2022 and wasn't even used that often in high leverage situations. Not knocking Swanson again. He's still a solid arm to have in the pen as an option for the 7th/8th innings. Shouldn't have to trade assets for those types of BP arms in the offseason lol. Should be able to develop those arms or sign an arm who could provide similar value in the offseason.
  23. A typical Spanky response. No substance at all.
  24. I agree with everything you said in this post. Like you said, there is always someone available who can hit and stand in LF, but why haven't Atkins and the Jays FO brought in that bat dating back from last season, when offense and power have been a major issue with this lineup and still is?
