  1. OK, winning bid is: 1st round pick 1st round pick James Paxton Eric Hosmer Neil Walker Thanks to all participants. A lot of really good offers came in. Ultimately, I wanted to go with MLB talent, instead of prospects this time around.
  2. OK, new leader in the Bumgarner sweepstakes: 2 1st round picks Decent MLB pitcher Decent MLB 1st baseman Decent MLB 2nd baseman
  3. Got three legit contenders going for Bumgarner now. Still trying to sort them out. a) Two 1st round picks, young starter, Top 25 prospect, very good closer Two good young pitchers, 1st round pick c) Very good young pitcher, 1st round pick, Top 20 prospect, top 50 prospect Obviously the values of the players and prospects differ, so it's not a cut and dry comparison.
  4. Probably announce tomorrow at 12:00 PM (noon).
  5. I am going to be trading Bumgarner in the next 24 hours. Top offer so far: Young pitcher with 5th spot in rotation. Two 1st round picks. Top 25-ish prospect Excellent closer.
  6. I'll take Joe Blanton and hope he lands somewhere good.
  7. Can we just pretend that not everyone know the nicknames of every marginal MLB player?
  8. Why is Spittin' passing all of his picks?
  9. Yeah, he was a superstar when he was traded from Detroit to the Yankees for Austin Jackson. Jackson was younger, and much cheaper, but fans in Detroit were not happy. Grandy was very well liked.
  10. Nice pick. Was hoping he would fall to the late rounds.
  11. I honestly have no interest in engaging with you. Not sure why you've decided to reopen this.
  12. Are you in this league? No? Then f*** off. Thanks.
  13. In a 20-teamer (with 20 keepers), it's hard to justify hanging on to holds guys, particularly when they aren't getting that many holds. He's also 31, with Dyson firmly entrenched. And teams try to avoid letting pre-arb guys close, as it drives up their cost. Osuna was an exception.
  14. And how do you feel about that?
  15. I think it would have worked better as a flowchart.
  16. Some pretty good players available through the waiver draft. Mostly position players and relief pitchers. Starting pitchers is pretty barren.
  17. I'm not trolling. I'm using exaggeration to illustrate that maximizing a player's value isn't as simple as turning a reliever into a starter.
  18. Let's turn all our relievers into starters. Then trade them for 3x their value. Then pick up more relievers. Then convert them into starters. Repeat.
  19. Everyone hated Pillar at 22. Despite decent results - everyone wanted him to get out of "Handsome" Jake Marisnick's way.
  20. Guys, It's simple. FrenchSoup maintains his claim on Ortiz, and isn't allowed to use his N/A spot next year. If at some point, he decides to rescind his claim on Ortiz, then he can use his N/A spot again.
  21. 1 - Austin Hedges (SD - C) 2 - Cheslor Cuthbert (KC - 3B) 3 - Domingo Santana (MIL - CF) 4 - Eduardo Núñez (SF - 3B,SS) 5 - Hunter Strickland (SF - RP) 6 - Jackie Bradley Jr. (BOS - CF) 7 - José Berrios (MIN - SP) 8 - Josh Tomlin (CLE - SP) 9 - Julio Urías (LAD - SP) 10 - Justin Bour (MIA - 1B) 11 - Logan Forsythe (TB - 1B,2B) 12 - Madison Bumgarner (SF - SP) 13 - Maikel Franco (PHI - 3B) 14 - Max Kepler (MIN - OF) 15 - Michael Pineda (NYY - SP) 16 - Robbie Grossman (MIN - OF) 17 - Roberto Osuna (TOR - RP) 18 - Danny Duffy (KC - SP,RP) 19 - Bruce Rondon (DET - RP) Cuts Colby Lewis (TEX - SP) Nick Hundley (COL - C) Nick Tropeano (LAA - SP) Robbie Erlin (SD - SP) Sandy León (BOS - C) Minors 1-Brent Honeywell (SP - TB) 2-Matt Olson (1B - OAK) 3-Renato Nunez (3B - OAK) 4-Spencer Adams (SP - CHW) 5-Grant Holmes (SP - LAD) 6-Sean Newcomb (SP - ATL) 7-Antonio Senzatela (SP - COL) 8-Orlando Arcia (SS - MIL) 9-Chris Paddack (SP - SD) 10-Mike Soroka (SP - ATL) 11-Nick Neidert (SP - SEA) 12-Roniel Raudes (SP - BOS) 13-Luis Urias (2B - SD) Also, should be noted that I traded Marcus Semien to Cyborg for Luis Urias. Not updated on spreadsheet. Thanks.
  22. I think the ego of the Canadians is too big to let them get beaten badly. Morneau is really the only guy that always represented, and gave it his all, whenever he could. Votto's excuse was pretty bloody pathetic. I'll be going to RC next time Cincinatti is in town to boo him.
  23. Only a matter of time before the commissioner decides to break ties by having a home run derby.
  24. I'd rather robot umps controlled the strike zone than the safe/out calls. A bad strike zone can get into the head of a hitter causing them to flail at garbage. A bad safe call at first base doesn't make you adapt your game at all. And a little human error gives us something to talk about. What would baseball be without a chance to yell and boo the umps?
