  1. We could REALLY use Brian McCann right now. I honestly think that would be akin to upgrading the pitching staff.
  2. Mods; Is this not the exact type of poster we started this board to get away from? I understand that you want to keep a variety of opinions on the board, but this is basically Lee Marvin. He basically posts the same thing in every single thread in an attempt to bait forum members into an argument. I could make a form for him... This is totally typical of "Insert dumb pet name for Org, GM, or manager". He refuses to "Insert the topic of the thread". I guess he's too busy "Insert some topical bone of contention among the fans".
  3. Well Melky's ~4WAR the two previous seasons say differently. If you think he can't hit anymore because of roids that's up to you. Neither of us know. What I DO know is that he was playing hurt basically all season. I'm not ready to throw him to the curb when the potential is there to buy 4WAR for 8M next year.
  4. Analysis like that is not all that telling... more trivially interesting. Our issue this year has been ZERO top end pitching. The offense is fine, the BP is fine (which doesn't mean it will be next year). If Morrow can come back that helps a lot. If we can replace JJ with someone better (even a better version off JJ) that helps a lot. If Dickey is better that helps a lot. Those are our issues.
  5. Player poll; Am I happy or sad that Delmonico was traded to the Brew Crew. I'm thinking, happy
  6. Wow... all kind of too early in this thread. Too early on the callups (both Ozuna AND these two), too early to anoint HJM a success, and too early to call Syndergaard over Sanchez.
  7. He'll be fun to follow, too bad he's a man among boys at 22 in the Gulf
  8. Pretty decent MiLB numbers, not really a prospect coming up, probably won't make the show till mid 20's, fringey tools that may let him be league average for a while (2'nd div starter type), maybe a few good years mixed in. Kevin Pillar.... Kevin Millar....
  9. I agree... that's honestly a pretty glowing report.
  10. Could have been an order from up to... could have been his job was in jeopardy or he thought it was.
  11. "43. Luc Giolito, RHP | Washington Nationals (age 19) Current level: Rookie (Gulf Coast) Preseason ranking: 77 Giolito is just back from Tommy John surgery, less than 12 months after going under the knife, and has regained his velocity, sitting 95-98 mph in short outings in the Gulf Coast League as the Nats build him back up. The curveball should be next, and command last; as those return, which they should given how well his recovery has gone, he'll continue to move up these rankings, and could easily finish the year in the top 20 because of his No. 1 starter ceiling." This pleases me greatly
  12. Nothing is 'wrong' with Pillar... he's fun to follow. It's just hard to expect much from a guy who's game is nearly 100% based on hitting for a high average. I think we'd all be thrilled if Pillar came up and hit .300. Hard to bank on that tho.
  13. Agreed, but there was defs a 'the bloom was off the rose' feels when he was on the way out and that he was overrated.
  14. Listening to Sid about baseball is none to smart.
  15. Theo has actually been doing pretty well down in Chicago.
  16. Sign this guy, he's too dumb to go to college anyway, what other choice does he have
  17. I'd love to get a hold of Ackley. The bat has plenty of upside and he's been a plus defender the two years prior to this.
  18. One thing Casey has going for him is another year of control at a good dollar. K-Rod also seems to have a bad rap... he couldn't find a team and ended up going back to the Brews for peanuts did he not (doesn't have a 2013 contract value on baseball reference).
  19. I'd be more than happy to get Castellanos. If we did does that mean Brett moves to 2nd?
  20. Oscar Taveras - "He could win batting titles" in scouting reports makes me happy. Danny Hultzen - Has been great while healthy, and I'll need him next year. Nice to see in Tacoma too. Gregory Polanco - Rocketing up the prospect rankings. Nice speed, some pop. Alex Meyer - Drawing positive scouting reports, swing and miss stuff, just needs to tame the walks Jonathan Schoop - Disappointing season so far, some hope in the age/level Yordano Ventura - Having some trouble in the PCL, but is generating great swing and miss. Hope he's a starter. Lucas Giolito - Better be good when he's back pitching, or I'm going to miss James Shields. Kohl Stewart - WHIP of 1!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing him play next year when it will mean something. Nick Ciuffo - See above Nick Delmonico - Walking like a champ, hitting for some pop. .859 fld% is concerning even if the stat is terrible. Max Kepler - Really just a fun wildcard. Jesse Hahn - Big fastball. 23 in A+, but hasn't pitched much due to TJ. Tampa pitch, what do I have to worry about Graduated: Marcell Ozuna - Holding his own as a 22 in the majors. Trademark pop hasn't shown up in the bigs yet. Gained CF eligibility this year, hopefully he keeps it for a few years.
  21. Super frustrating having expendable relievers every year that never get traded.
  22. I have no problem trading Casey this year if the market is good (and I do enjoy watching him pitch). A closer isn't going to make or break our season, our starters will.
  23. I hope Jimmy is right... that would be a nice haul.
  24. There is no Blue Jay that frustrates me more than JP. Talk about a one tool player, and the worst thing is his power plays down because his hit tool is so bad.
