  1. Don`t you mean low upside 'safe'college pitchers that should be able to be a 3-5 at the majors in a few years *cough* JenkinsMcGuire *cough*
  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/09/raciel-iglesias-detained-for-attempting-to-defect-from-cuba.html New plan. Jays spend some of their development budget to hire mercs to aid high profile players defect from Cuba with the agreement that they will sign with the Jays. It's bulletproof... (which is probably something the mercs will require)
  3. Not looking good for the 'best case scenario', but it does look like the Jays will lose to clinch a top 10 pick. Phillies losing pretty big and the Mets are also losing (although closer)
  4. Well here we are at the last game of the season. The draft window sits at 8 - 11. The Jays could really REALLY use a lose. Best case scenario; Jays, and Brewers Lose, Mets, and Phillies win. This has us drafting 8th Worst case scenario; Brewers Lose, Jays win. That has us drafting 11th, outside the top 10. If the Jays lose the worst we can finish is 10th. If we sweep the damn Rays to finish the year... mother of god.
  5. It just donned on me that the Mets and Brewers (who we are currently tied with in the standings ) are playing each other for their final games of the season. If we consider a win today as likely. That puts us in a tough spot. If the Mets/Brews split their final two games they will each end up with a record of 74 - 88. If we win today and tomorrow they will BOTH leap us in the standings. The nice thing about it is that if either team wins the final two, or we lose tomorrow, we are guaranteed a top 10 pick.
  6. The Blue Jays now sit with the 9th pick with 2 games remaining. Our draft window is now between 7-12 (including our comp pick at 11 which I wasn't always including before). The Giants recent streak has put them out of the hunt for top 10. Likewise the Mariners, and the 6th pick they hold, are now beyond our reach. The Rockies 'magic number' is 1 game. Any combination of a Blue Jays win or Rockies loss will make the 7th pick impossible for the Jays. The Jays are in a three way tie for the last 2 'top 10' spots. They also win the 'tie breaker' with both the Brewers and Mets. If either of those teams win out the season, we are guaranteed a top 10 pick. Conversely, a Jay's loss coupled with a win by either team also guarantees us a top 10 pick. Lets go tank nation!
  7. How 'Blue Jays' would it be to win their first series in forever against Tampa when it doesn't matter (standing wise) and screw ourselves out of a top 10 pick.
  8. Jays draft position currently at 8th with the big Brewers win. Currently tied with MIL and PHI but 'winning' on last years record. Or draft position window has shrunk since yesterday morning and now sits at 6 - 13 with the Padres winning. Magic numbers for a few teams (combination of wins or loses that shrinks our possible draft window) - Big Giants win yesterday put them at a magic number of 1 (wins by them or loses by us) - Games before Seattle escapes our possible grasp is now 2
  9. bad news so far in reverse standings land, at least in terms of the teams 'chasing us' . We'll be pretty much just keeping pace with our closest trailers. However the Brew Crew is winning, and the Rockies are tied with us and idol. That would vault us to 8th spot in a 4 way tie with the Brews, Rockies, and Phillies.
  10. I did it in MLB MVP '05. It was sweet
  11. Padres, Mariners, Giants winning. Mets and Rockies Won. Only bad new today was Philly losing. Our draft range will remain at 6-14 if the above holds up.
  12. I would too. Passing grade or not, if I got a C in high school I would have been down right embarrassed. I don't think many of your grades were too far off.
  13. and I had it wrong last night when I said we will finish between 6th and 15th. If we win out and the Angels lose out we will have the same record and we would 'win' based on last years record. We will finish between 6th and 14th as of last night.
  14. Twins officially moved out of our reach with their loss today. Jays potential range is now 6-15 (pending the result of the Angels-D-Backs game) The M's are only one loss away from moving out of our reach, but the Brew Crew is within realistic striking distance (albeit with some good (bad) luck). Any three losses by the Brew's and we can't catch them.
  15. Jays current maximum draft position is 5th. Current minimum draft position is 15th.
  16. 2017 is pretty decent all things considered. Great news for the team.
  17. Sitting in the 10 spot with 11 games left with 18.5 games back. There are three teams 1 game ahead of us at 17.5 games back, but three teams within 2 game back of us at 19.5-20.5 games back.
  18. Quick, someone trade me Carlos Martinez so I can have these three amigos together in the DDL. But also, I'd just plain like to have Martinez.
  19. Do you miss him already? joking of course. I'm sure Shields has (and will) be good for you.
  20. post that in the reverse standings thread with a ''
  21. sarcasm detectors... clearly broken.
  22. It was a weird year this past MiLB draft. There was definitely more premium talent on the pitching side. I'm certainly not upset with Kohl Stewart.
  23. We're not on the old forum snarls, you can say it... ass, or ****, or dick, or whatever _____ is
  24. I don't know for sure, but my pitching was pretty bad this year
