  1. His plate discipline has gone out the window. All through his hot streak he was patient, but still going after his pitch if he got it, and most importantly, not chasing the low breaking balls and high fastballs. He's now the complete opposite, passive at he plate, not going after his pitch, and chasing the garbage.
  2. Because he's a good but not great rental that would net no compensation for a guy going to free agency. The only way the Cubs get an A level prospect is if the trading team signs him to an extension, and for a guy with his shoulder issues, a team probably wouldn't be too keen on going very long with any type of deal. The nlly thing really keeping Garza's value even that high is his recent amazing pitching. For a straight rental with no extension, a B level prospect and some international slot dollars would probably get it done.
  3. Winning teams don't employ players that are as crappy as JPA to begin with.
  4. 1992 in AAA with 112 wRC+ and .350 wOBA, babip .269... love me some Bogaerts!
  5. Yeah probably, but is that really likely when we have a rotation and lineup that's so... volatile?
  6. Lawrie 0-3 for Lansing tonight.
  7. The Jays just don't quite have enough guys that are consistant in their approach. And some guys with a good approach, but are one dimensional hitters. It's boom or bust.
  8. Me too. But I guess it's preferable to give up multiple top, mid and low ish tier prospect assets in order to acquire Guys like Happ, Buerhle and Dickey, rather than acquiring additional young assets for nothing but money.
  9. Was I in a coma the year Dunn was a Jay?
  10. Yep, but it's pretty sad that he'd instantly be the best SP in the rotation...
  11. Rogers is pitching scared right now since he sinker isnt working
  12. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=FbrhREmVJjE&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DFbrhREmVJjE
  13. That's a good point... No catching instructor for a guy who clearly needs it.... That's not really excusable
  14. Yeah... No reason to make things worse by firing right back. Needs to be handled internally.
  15. Friedman says they should ban them from twitter... And I agree. Act like a child, get your toys taken away
  16. Elliot Friedman's take... Has no opinion of the guy as a person since e's never really met him, doesn't care that he took a run at the media, that's ok.... But from a business POV, as Blue Jays management, they have to know that it was calculated and planned, and then came out and said what he said in a situation where every game is must win, and all you have to do is say one wrong thing and the powder keg of media will go off. He should have realized that he shouldn't be starting anything like this at this time of the season. Now the media is going to have to go to melky and all the other players whether or not they actually support what JPA said, and it will create problems in the locker room, and this all the reaction of JPA and his comments
  17. Zaun on PTS at 5:20 EDT, I wonder what he'll have to say
  18. I'd love JPA to get benched for the next series or something. He clearly didn't think about what his words were implying about steroids, I really don't think he even thought about Cabrera and how he could be connected to the statements he made about PEDs. He just wanted to take a cheap shot at Zaun and used PEDs as that shot... Not an excuse of course, it just further evidence that he just doesn't think before the mouth opens.
  19. I think it's jumping the gun here on the "inmates running the asylum" angle. We saw gibbons take Lawrie to task when Lawrie got out of line with Lind, and Bautista is noticeably less douchey on called third strikes. there's no way he can prevent JPA from saying what he said, he ca only deal with it after the fact. It would be interesting if JPA wasn't in the starting lineup or something tonight...
  20. Yep. Drafted as a catcher. He is actually he team's emergency catcher if the other 2 got hurt in a game. I think John macdonald was when he was here
  21. I'm sure JPA doesn't really care about the court of public opinion, but I wonder what everyone's reaction would ave been f he'd come out and said something like "we'll I don't agree with how they present their criticisms, this game is very hard and nobody cares more about my play than me and I know I haven't played up to even my own standards. I'm putting in extra time every day to try and make the right adjustments so I can help the Jays win more games..." Instead it's basically " they sucked at baseball and one of them created and I speak for the entire clubhouse and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!! They hurt my feelings..."
  22. "Hayhurst ran into shoulder issues. " Weighted ball program came a few years too late
