  1. Maicer hasn't impressed thus far, but I think he's about ready to go on a bit of a run. I like Maicer better than Kawasaki as a starting 2b ROS. I also think how Maicer plays between now and the deadline is really going to play heavily into how aggressively AA pursues a 2b via trade.
  2. I think you greatly underestimate the jump in skill level from AA to AAA and finally to the majors. I have no real doubt that Pillar will make the majors, and will probably contribute pretty well in a 4th OF only replacement getting 250-300 PA in a season.
  3. Since neither Kawasaki nor Boni would be playing full time, choosing one over the other based solely on "what have you done for me lately" would be short sighted. It comes do to who's skillset plays better on the bench of the Jays right now, and a switch hitting speedster who can back OF and infield is probably more needed than a light hitting MIF only backup. Bear on mind the Jays are going to go through this again when Lawrie comes back unless there's another injury at the same time. Dump a reliever or dump Boni.. Then when Santos is back...
  4. Yep legit. Rick Litsch and ECJF were wonderful friends
  5. He was specifically referring to catcher and CF though, neither of those guys you mentioned fit that bill
  6. He just told you. Guys with good defense and better than league average BA and OBP, you know, those guys hat never really get traded?
  7. Pillar very unclutch. 4-4 in th game and he comes up with an insurance run at 2b, 2 outs... Dribbler to SS.... #bust
  8. Might try the Reading feed at http://www.1340wraw.com/main.html
  9. Non prospect Adam Loewen 5-5 today, all singles, mashing over his last 10 games. Non-prospect of course, but still nice to see.
  10. Also worth mentioning tha Reed Johnson put up 4.4 fWAR / 5.1 bWAR in 2006 in his career year at age 29 while only hitting 12 HR
  11. No real power projection would likely stop him long term, but he could probably carve out couple years as a full time guy frm 26-30ish, then be that rotating 4th OF that gets 250 PA every year after that, filling in over short stretches due to injury. I know we've all heard the Reed Johnson comparison's and that's probably what he's looking at. Really hard to project anyone as a long term full time player in the OF when his power ceiling is probably 10-12 HR
  12. Interesting, he's clearly looking for a ball up in the zone... But where exactly does he think the strike zone stops?
  13. It's really too bad that the only person in baseball who seems to think JPA is a good catcher is AA.... Just awful
  14. Top 10 catcher.... What a joke of a roster spot. Had Molina been the one catching the ball, he would have been sitting right on the plate and blocking the s*** out of it.
  15. Who punched Urias in the face before that pic?
  16. http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2013/06/24/the_bullpen_blue_jays_recreate_bull_durham_speech.html Jerks left out the best part of the speech but what can ya do. Still mildly entertaining.
  17. Lugo outside the top 20... That's pretty shocking
  18. Obvious troll is obvious. Unless of course you are actually pat tabler in which case it's very likel you believe that catchers era is a real thing.
  19. AA was on the MLB network radio this morning, I only caught the last two questions but here's the quick version. Reyes DH today and again tomorrow and they'll evaluate. They think he'll probably need more time and would go down to New Hampshire after Monday since buffalo is going on the road and NH is at home, they are targeting the Start of the Boston series as his probable return date but outside chance for Tampa. He feels they still have enough pieces for a blockbuster type trade, though he doesn't feel one will be there, and isn't looking for one. He specifically said area of need is 2b as they feel they do not have one that can really play there everyday.
  20. I take issue with the entire premise of the article. E5 was a throw in to the trade of Rolen because the jays needed a 3b and cinci wanted to get rid of a failed player. Yes he had upside, but he wasn't the main target of the trade. It's not like JPR was like " we need encarnacion or no deal.." And from all accounts, it was cito who lobbied to get Bautista, it just happened p be JPR's signature that had to be on the page. Also, crediting a GM fr Cecil and janssen as lockdown pen arms when they were both developed as starters and subsequently sucked at it....How exactly does that mean anything for JPR? I'm not saying AA deserves credit either, just saying that it's not like JpR is some hidden genius that suddenly deserves all this credit
  21. Prior to today's game, jays are averaging 30,062 per game. 2012 end of season average was 25,921. Could top 35k average by end of season if they climb back in this race and play meaningful baseball in August and September http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance
  22. Hey, don't forget Dawson got credit with the all important Save.
  23. Kind of odd to see his slash line ... . 500 avg, only .472 OBP
