  1. I just hope he looks healthier than the last few starts. He was clearly labouring through something
  2. Love that Barger is spitting on those curve balls. They aren't even bad pitches. Missed his cookies though, damn
  3. So, his 10 foot ground balls will be 11 feet now?
  4. Agreed, I don't think he's truly in play, but the GM will do his due diligence and probably get a list of teams he would maybe approve a trade to.
  5. Shelby Miller to the IL with a forearm strain. Cant come back until July 21 at the earliest. Hurts his trade chances for sure
  6. Guy they picked up from Miami who was DFA. They stuck him in Buffalo till a few days ago. He might get the 3 inning save here lol
  7. Berrios might go 8 himself. At that point it might be so out of reach a position player finishes up
  8. I'm mentally preparing myself for the team to lay an egg after that brilliant homestand. I hope to be pleasantly surprised. The Sox are playing their first game home after flying back from a road trip so there could be a bit of letdown on their side too.
  9. Youd think, but Texas isn't a penny pinching team. They don't HAVE to move him, they just could if they wanted to. Plus, given the lack of high end arms on the market this year, they'd have tons of competition lining up. I suppose his no-trade clause could be a bit of a roadblock, but typically it's not
  10. Assuming all healthy, Sandlin to the minors would be the most correct move. There isn't a true long man on that list, so theyd have to use a few guys for 2 IP at a time, depending on how efficient they were. Green, Burr, Fisher can all go 2 IP, Yariel can too though he's more high leverage now. It would be an excellent problem to have Sandlin, Fluharty, Estrada, Pina, Schultz, Bhuihl, and Lucas in the minors as capable call-ups in case of injury.
  11. For sure. Teams are generally smarter now in terms of trading top prospects for rentals so yeah the second and third tier guys become more important, and the guys who have 1 loud tool but might be struggling in the lower minors...those guys matter too. Pinango is a prime example of that.
  12. Probably yeah. But the motivation for them to shed about 12 million dollars might bring that ask down a bit. Milwaukee is actually pretty much the NL version of the Jays when you look at where they were prior to June 1 and have gone nuts since then to climb back into it. The key difference being the ability to add payroll for whatever makes sense (Jays) vs not so much for Milwaukee. I don't even know what a return for them would look like from the Jays for them if we assume they want players to help them now. Their rotation is already solid. Pen is solid. Theyre probably looking to add a position player for the left side of the infieldand i doubt that's something the Jays could provide at the level they want.
  13. Brandon Woodruff just came back from injury today for the Brewers, threw just 70 pitches over 6 IP, surrendered only 2 hits (1 of them a solo HR) and struck out 8 over 6 innings with no walks. Might this be a guy that will be offered up in trade talks after a few more starts leading up to the deadline??? Reasons Milwaukee might trade him: Money. When he got hurt they signed him to a contract to cover his injury seasons (2.5m for 2024, 5.5m for 2025) but with a 10million buyout of a 20 million mutual option for 2026. I'm sure they'd love to get our from under that buyout. Misioroski's dominant debut probably has them more motivated to shed that buyout and get something back as well.
  14. I consider neither of them to be aces currently, though Alcantara has an ace history. Given the control of either pitcher remaining, no, I don't think a package of Kasevich or Stanifer level prospects would get it done, but trade returns are highly dependent on the team doing the evaluating of the Jays prospects. Do they want prospects only or do they want a near major league ready arm like Estrada, plus prospects? That's the kind of thing that can vary from FO to FO. One thing most teams have become very much better at in recent history is not trading their top prospects for rentals (unless they're truly on the cusp and the rental is a bonafide stud), and not trading top prospects for non-impact talent, even with control. I really don't see any aces available at the deadline TBH, unless there's some out there that we just haven't heard about that might be available. There's been rumblings of teams checking with Pittsburgh about Skenes, but that's probably just click-baiting.
  15. Kirk named as an All-Star reserve but Springer got snubbed in favor of Kwan, Buxton, Julio Rodrigues and Brent Rooker
  16. To answer that last question, they cant go after an ace without including one of Nimmala or Yesavage for sure. The depth guys could land a rental, but there would be more than 1 of them involved most likely. Look at the trades last year the Jays pulled off. Even other guys you mentioned like Kasevich, Stanifer etc could get used in those trades.
  17. Naw its fine to be discussed here. Basically, the 40 man roster is in a pretty good place right now. As far as pitching goes, there's nobody there that's a clear "he's useless, who cares" which is good. Guys who are still being developed as SPs, Macko (just back from TJ surgery), Manoah (still out but nearing a return from surgery), Bloss (just had TJ surgery, not back till mid next year) Lazardo, Pina, Bastardo (had TJ last June but he was a rule 5 pickup they knew was gonna hurt all year), and Bowden Francis (on the IL with shoulder inpingement). No real rush on clearing 40 man roster spots this season until Manoah is back. Position player side... lots of decent depth options already on the roster, some of whom will probably be dealt away at the deadline. Think Wagner, Roden, Loperfido, Schneider, Jimenez, Clase, Lukes. All these guys have skillsets that allow them to play in the bigs in specifically designed roles, but likely aren't full time players long term. As for who would rule 5 eligible...just look at the 2021 high school drafted and 2022 college drafted to see if any names jump out as needing protection.
  18. Hes not really all that crafty, the split is just really good and he has that hitch in his delivery to mess up timing even more. It works though
