  1. I hope so. There's just this gnawing feeling in my gut that a top end arm isnt going to available, but I think they will land an elite pen arm. A bat? Who the hell knows
  2. Interesting to see if they'll get his twin brother now too, ranked just outside the top 100 Bats: L Class: HS SR Height: 6' 2" Pick Value: $6.81m Throws: R DOB: 08/08/06 Weight: 200 Birthplace: USA The Parker twins are the best high school position prospects in Mississippi. Outfielder Jacob has more raw pop, but infielder JoJo offers a more enticing package with superior hitting ability and athleticism and has played his way into the first round with a strong senior season. Multiple scouts have compared him to a more powerful version of Carter Johnson, an Alabama prep shortstop who signed with the Marlins for a well-over-slot $2.8 million as a second-rounder last July. Parker has a chance to be a plus hitter with average power. He has a sound left-handed swing, manages the strike zone well and employs a gap-to-gap approach. He shows some feel for driving balls in the air and is posting more impressive exit velocities as he continues to gain muscle. While Parker will get the chance to play shortstop at the next level and his solid arm strength, his actions and quickness are just average. That likely will dictate a move to second or third base in the future, though he should provide enough offense to profile at either position. The twins are committed to playing together at Mississippi State if they don't turn pro.
  3. Meh. Moot point now since Miami took Arquette The good news is there's no real wrong answer here for the Jays
  4. Now we just need Miami to do something Miami-like...and we get Arnold
  5. There we go, Holliday gone. Normalcy has resumed
  6. I cant see them letting him pass either but... its Colorado
  7. Nope. And Davis Schneider homered on the very next pitch after his ejection.
  8. Angels going a tad off board with the #2 pick. Taking an 18th ranked guy... strap in folks, gonna be a weird one
  9. Willits went before Holliday. Interesting right off the bat
  10. My bold prediction... someone in the top 5 slides down way more than anyone thought... Jays take him at 8
  11. Nice Barger! Another miracle comeback starting?
  12. Ah well, Jays limp in to the break, but so did the Yankees. No real harm done.
  13. Don't see that every day. Schneider HR during a Schneider ejection
  14. Agree, he's a viable #5 option for 2026 and beyond
  15. With Nutting as principle owner, the Pirates are 1285-1534 since 2007, and have only 4 seasons where they had a record above .500, and just 3 playoff appearances. Lost in the DS, and lost both WC games they appeared in. Tragic 1 season they had a payroll over 100 million. and it was 2017 for a whopping 100,503,030
  16. we discussed this yesterday in the General Blue Jays thread. You're late to the party But, to answer the question you posed, no it wont alter the Jays trade deadline plans. The front office cannot count on Manoah contributing anything this season, so his rehab starting date is a non-factor. Should he eventually gear up for a starter's pitch count, him even getting back up to the big squad would likely necessitate an injury to a current starter, or him being used as a reliever, which ... just wouldn't make sense when they would want as many innings as he could deliver in the last month or so of the season for his own injury recovery. Chances are, that would occur in AAA until their season is over.
  17. Well that's subjective. He hasn't made his way to my ignore list, which is ... reaaaaaally long. There's knowledge there under the surface, just hasn't got to the place yet where he'd rather post that instead of the simplistic and over-the-top rage-baiting.
  18. There's a couple mildly intriguing guys also way way down the pecking order just following for fun Pat Gallagher, 25, converted to the pen this season and just moved up to NH, where he's striking out 12 per nine, walking 2 per 9. No idea on what he throws though. I'm also following Nate Garkow, 27, - this guys numbers are just weird. They plucked him out of independent ball a year or two ago. His WHIP in AA this year in his first 10 innings is 0.5, 12.9 K/9, 3.7 BB per 9. Way too early to call them anything, but... just fun to keep tabs on as guys that might show up on the 40 man one day and get a cup of coffee in the show
  19. Yup with only 1 pick in the top 60 there's a bit more pressure than usual I would think.
  20. He brought back a sinker in 2024 as I recall. Didn't throw it a ton but it was there.
  21. Speaking for me alone, I don't generally pay attention to mocks because there's so many things that we, and they, don't know about the kids, the possible backroom deals and what a team is targeting based on their pool money. Is Holliday the consensus #1? Or do the Nationals value pitching more? Look at the last few drafts alone where a consensus top X pick slid to the Jays unexpectedly. I find, for myself, the less I get excited about any particular draft eligible individual, the less upset it makes me when they pick someone else.
  22. Yeah. I cant imagine they didn't have one in years past either as its not exactly new tech, but not taking a smaller version on the road? Seems like a pretty obvious thing you'd wanna take. Maybe we give some of these guys a bit too much credit on the common sense side of things
  23. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/road-woes-resurface-for-bassitt-blue-jays-in-blowout-loss-to-red-sox/ An article detailing that at least up until that time, the Jays hadn't been taking any type of pitch simulator on road trips to help with opposition pitchers. They are now
  24. I don't think there's any question at all they want to add at least 1 pen arm, possibly even 2 with the skillset they feel can be high leverage or "closer" material, regardless of how Hoffman performs.
  25. I suppose there's a non-zero chance they use him as a long man in the pen to piggy-back Lauer starts, but that feels like such a long shot and all kinds of things would have to go wrong in the bullpen for that to be an option. Like... 5+ more guys on the IL level bad
