Most annoying part about all the columns is how they say that all these teams are .500 or better, when they aren't. If you're 35, 35 and 12 ... you aren't playing .500 hockey. You've won 35 and lost 47, and been awarded points for 12 of the losses because they've been in OT or a shootout. But you aren't a .500 team

No argument here. Derozan is only scoring because of free throws, and volume shooting from places on the floor that don't really get defended anymore because they've been found to be inefficient shots. I guess kudos have to go to him to a point for developing his game to take advantage of it, but theres a reason why you don't hear younger players say they model their game after his.

Better hope Demar starts shooting better than 20%. Quite honestly I don't believe the Raps are good enough to completely rest 1 of Demar or Lowry in any game and feel good about their chances of winning. Demar can now be focused on with 0 others real scoring threats. Granted it's the Nets. ..

The differnce being, they have examples on hand that were signed in their presence or provided by the athlete or league they played in, and usually have them from multiple years as a lot of guys' signatures change over time. They also looking at ink consistency and multiple other factors.

7:50am: Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports hears that the two sides are discussing a two-year contract (Twitter link). FOX’s Ken Rosenthal agrees, tweeting that Bautista and the Jays are discussing a two-year pact in the $35-40MM range. That’s a departure from Passan’s report, though it should be noted that Passan’s tweets were around 2am, so there’s certainly been enough time for talks to have changed course. JAN. 16, 7:13am: Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the two sides have discussed multiple iterations of a deal but are currently focused on a one-year pact (Twitter links). A deal isn’t quite done yet, but each side is optimistic that something will be completed.

Best part about the game today.. Lowry and Derozan played 28 minutes each. Coach finally realized when you're up by 40 you don't need your best guys on the floor until 4 minutes left in the 4th.

Just look at other examples of their autographs from Google and I think you'll come to the same conclusion. As for the blue signed one... at least those signatures appear to be legit. It's odd though that so many seem to have the exact same consistency of ink, and literally none of them go near the stitching.

Can tell you right now the black ink one is fake as f*** imo. The Carter signature looks absolutely nothing like his real autograph. The J doesn't even come close. Winfield also generally doesn't sign his full first name, usually just a D. I would encourage you to seek third party verification though.

The 1992 team ball is only worth something for the big market if the big names are on it, and the signatures are clear. The money market for memorabilia doesn't care about signatures for that team other than Carter, Alomar, Winfield, Morris, Stieb. Others are cool and nostalgic, but for pure dollars type of value, those 5 are it. For authentication - it's hard to say. You can usually get a pretty good idea just from looking at comparable signatures online but without real authentication from a third party it would be difficult to sell.

It's a myth for sure. Most people don't take into account that a pitcher usually sees a slow decrease in velocity in the time leading up to the surgery, and therefore come back throwing harder than that. But comparing healthy velocity to hurt velocity is not evidence of anything of course. However, I have read (and I can't remember where now...) an article or two that did show some pitchers throwing harder after the surgery than their healthier earlier career speeds. Thing is, the surgery was not the reason for the increases, but rather the more focused throwing, strengthening and stretching exercises that the pitchers did during their recovery, and continued to do after getting back to their full strength. Basically, they never knew they weren't actually at their full strength before, but maybe could have been if they'd been doing the same exercises before the surgery. And the difference was like .7 -1.2 mph or something.

Nothing wrong with playing a game or 2 over there in the preseason, but regular season would be crazy hard to pull off given the travelocity. Unless of couse they were shooting for a game or 2 to happen right before the Olympic break in 2022. That would be the most likely doable way to go about it - assuming of course the NHL players do end up going

The third scoring option is not for the regular season though, it's for the playoffs when you can reliably count on one of Lowry or Derozan being focused on and being somewhat contained from 1 game to the next.
