    Having been a former referee, I can tell you that there's nothing wrong with being passionate about your kids sports.what's wrong is when people react horribly to mistakes, or have such a twisted view of reality they can't accept anything other than perfection. What's wrong are when nut jobs verbally assault officials because of a missed call or a completely legit call they just can't accept cuz everyone's kid is perfect. And most of the the officials are also volunteers or being paid very little and sometimes maybe only a few years older than the kids playing the game. Not saying this is you, just saying I've seen it, had it done to me and boy it feels great having some f*** wad 40 year old yell at you when you're 14 because you called a penalty on his kid in a meaningless exhibition game. Get over it.

    I think a better thought exercise would be .... if Rogers wanted to erect a statue or statues outside the RC, what players and moments would they want to remind people of? Stieb for his overall greatness and the only no hitter thrown in jays history. Halladay for his overall greatness. Delgado maybe? Fernandez maybe? Carter's home run. Alomar being a hall of famer and his great post season HR - even a perfect pose for that one. Bautista's bat flip Jorge Bell probably as one of the first true Blue Jay stars. Missing anything or anyone egregious?

    Having seen Cust when he was in the rookie level pioneer league, he was a monster. He busted windows in 4 houses that season on home runs.

    Wrc+ between 115 and 153 in every minor league season that he wasn't splitting with football time.... with 1 exception, 2018. I wish all our farm hands sucked so bad.

    Alford is already a 4th OF floor with his defensive abilities in CF alone. He would probably be better defensively in CF than Pillar next season.

    0 downside....basically 0 cost.... doesn't really move the needle....casual fans with no brains losing their s***.... Yup, checks all the expected boxes for 2019. Makes it a winner in my books.

    The thing about wOBA is that it doesn't take situation into account. A single is weighted more than a walk (slightly), because over the hundreds of thousands of prior baseball games that have been recorded, singles lead to runs more than walks, irrespective of how the single was hit or how many pitches were thrown before it happened, who was on base and where they were at the time. The context isn't relevant. Order of events is important in reality of course, but no player can control the order of events with any certainty, nor their own place in the order of events. That's why when a team in 1 inning hits 3 straight singes and then a home run, they score more than a team that hits a home run followed by 3 singles. Same events, different order, more runs, fewer runs. Players cannot control the order, so giving credit to them like they can is folly.

    This writer has a very hard time with reality. Yes, the save stat is stupid. But ...yes, events that happen at the end of games ARE more important than things that happen earlier in games, because there's less time for the other team to respond. However, that doesn't mean that if things happen at the end of the game that more skill is involved, unless you subscribe to the theory that the ability to pitch under more "pressure" is a skill and not every major league reliever has that skill. Naturally that's impossible to test given that the majority of relievers never get to try and close games, which some would say is because their team has already decided they don't have that skill, which is likely not complete ********, because there are most certainly some guys who would not pitch as well in that role. But, it's probably afr fewer than people think. Anyways, yeah this writer is dumb and looking for attention.

    Yeah, there's always outliers. And he has massive power. Any slight power dip or babip regression and he's league average or worse in a hurry

    As usual, you missed the point on the K rate discussion. A 25% K rate is nothing to worry about when a guy also carries a 19% walk rate and hits bombs. It would be a huge problem if his walk rate was 5%

    Good players that teams will value don't get released while making small amounts of money. They only get turfed when they are s***** on albatross deals.
