  1. Probably got beaned in his next AB for that slows ass HR trot.
  2. I don’t think they took him as a reliever, I just think that’s where he ends up. He’s got 1 plus pitch, a slightly above average fastball, and …. Hope he develops a changeup into average with time. In his favour, apparently he had good command of the fastball. Slider is a swing and miss chase pitch but generally doesn’t throw it for strikes…yet. Changeup is a work in progress. Right now, looking at his arsenal he’d profile at the back end of the rotation, 4-5…maybe 3 if all all breaks the right way. I choose to hedge on the downside of this particular gentleman. They didn’t draft Pearson as a reliever either but every year he gets closer to that role.
  3. Just because they have the same name doesn’t mean it’s our version. They’re celebrated for 2 different things
  4. Both profile as relievers, but it's hard not to take a good look at a guy striking out 15 per 9 at AA
  5. I didnt mind the pizza, i like really thin crusts. Didnt really care of the small squares instead of wedges though.
  6. Bucs stadium is just slightly outside what is known as downtown, and they are 93% full so far this season. But then, nobody in the NFL has in person attendance problems except the Redskins.
  7. Damn, you had me at " huge deep fried ...." Could have ended that with sheep testicles and Id be in.
  8. Currently 100% sold out over 19000 per game. 2nd highest avg attendance in the league behind only Montreal
  9. St Louis style bbq ribs weren't to your liking?
  10. Im not sold on Kim. I heard his wife isn't very attractive so it's very possible he lacks confidence.
  11. There are plenty of fans, they just don't want to put up with the ******** getting the stadium. I drove there in spring 2020 and it was a nightmare from the 7th circle of hell that I couldn't fathom doing more than once or twice a year.
  12. While true, the issue with The Rays is 100% location and dump stadium. Getting in and out of St. Pete is a nightmare. The Lightning's location is about 10,000 times better since it's right in downtown Tampa.
  13. It's hard to guess at that... but yeah he likely would have accepted. If he declined, teams would likely have been more hesitant to even sign him if 11 million was his market AAV. Another example of decent mid rotation arms getting less than they should. But, I guess that's the life of the guys in the middle in MLB
  14. Cuz the owners need a union ?
  15. Yeah, but it’s surplus vale they’ll never truly take advantage of unless there’s some drastic changes in the CBA that requires a salary floor
  16. One bad injury and it all goes away if you don’t sign this. That’s a pretty big decision to make when you’re 20 and staring at enough guaranteed money to set up you, your family both close and extended for their next 10 generations. Tell me you’d turn it down because you’re hoping in 6 years you’re still perfectly healthy and one of the top players in baseball. That’s an insane decision to be presented with
  17. Yeah. There's always some downside hedging with the guys in the middle that the guys at the top never seem to suffer from though. It's like if you're a solid 3, you cant get paid your actual value because a team will say they have to protect against you pitching like a 5.... then you leave money on the table, and never get the chance to get it back unless you suddenly become a 1... then they fall all over themselves to pay you 30 million per year, injury risk be damned. Even calculating win value at 8 million per year... projecting at 2 ... he would be worth 16 million, but he's forced to leave 4 million on the table because of the downside hedging. Then he pitches a 3 WAR season again, and ends up having left even more on the table. Where's the part that's built in the contract that gives him more money if he pitches way better? Why do players have to put with the owner's hedging on the possible downside without also getting something back if they outpitch it? This is why I never begrudge players for getting whatever they can, when they can; because the system is set up to favour the owners at every stop. Yeah, sometimes players willingly take discounts because of familiarity with a team, or they just don't care that much about the difference between 12 million and 14 million when they already have 30 million in the bank.
  18. Really feels like this is the kind of pitcher that gets dog-f***ed in their salary. 3 Win pitchers are decidedly worth more than 12 per year. Sure, you wouldn't pay them 20... but 12?
  19. Good for him. Loupy figured out his strength and plays to it beautifully now
  20. Buck whines about everything that wasn't in the game in 1971 like it's the worst thing since slavery. His personal observations should be taken with a carton of salt... and probably a gallon of vodka. It's probably very context dependent and catcher dependent. If you're a standout defensive catcher, maybe you get away with it more because you're already awesome. The stance is mainly for lessening the energy expenditure of the catcher when you don't care if a ball gets past you, helping to avoid fatigue later in games. at least, that's been my understanding. It does help "steal" strikes at the bottom of the zone as well with the upward movement of the glove. Baseball America had an article on this earlier this year if i remember right. They tried to see if the 1 legged stance led to more wild pitches. Admittedly i don't remember the results. also, i could have sworn Pudge, Tony Pena and a few other guys were doing this like 15-30 years ago in some situations.
  21. The one knee thing is runner-on-base dependent and out/count dependent for the most part. They will mostly only do the one leg setup with nobody on base, less than two strikes because they don't have to worry about wild pitches leading to advancing a runner, or a third swinging strike getting past them.
  22. Some idiot in the NL MVP voting voted for LaMonte Wade Jr. The idiocy isnt just limited to voting for the hall... it's just more widespread there.
  23. Scouts will generally go low on catchers speed simply because in 3 years they’ll have no knees.
  24. Reports are circulating stating Correa and his agent’s contract expectations are “nothing less than Lindors 340 million” Realistic expectation or just lip service?
  25. Lotions are a thing. So I’ve heard….
